20.8X38 Pro Puller Holeshot July 16, 2021 03:59AM
A couple weeks ago we sent out a mailer to a lot of you. It included information on all of our pulling tires that are available as well as information on all the other tires we offer for your day to day needs.

In this flyer we had a section on our 20.8X38 Pro Puller Holeshot tire, with COMING SOON on it. I have been getting some calls recently, so wanted to share what I know about the tire's availability on here. We are currently through the design phase of this tire. We have all of the specs drawn out and are waiting on a mold to come in for our factory to start producing them. The tricky part for us right now is when we will end up seeing the mold. As everyone knows, most of the world is backordered at the moment, and we have not gotten an official date on when we will be able to start producing. The factory's best guess is that it will be the end of next summer.

We are taking pre-orders, but without any major changes to the timeline, we do not think the tire will be ready for the beginning of the 2022 pulling season.

I will keep everyone updated on here as we learn more. Thank you for your interest!

Will the new tire be radial or bias?

Re: 20.8X38 Pro Puller Holeshot July 18, 2021 10:41PM
Just because you put an r behind the 20.8 doesn't make it a redial

Re: 20.8X38 Pro Puller Holeshot July 19, 2021 01:53AM
This is a correct statement. The 20.8 tires made overseas were branded with an R on them, but are not a true radial, they are bias. This has caused some confusion with the antique world, but if anyone needs verification they can call me and I will explain the differences and process on how the tire is bias.

Who said it did?

Re: 20.8X38 Pro Puller Holeshot July 19, 2021 01:40AM
Thank you for the question! The tire specifications can be found at this link on our website. The tire will be constructed in a similar way our 24.5X32 and 30.5X32 tires are made. We have had success with those tires and our engineers think we can make the 20.8 work just as good, or better than our big tires. They will be a shallow degree bias design that is not many degrees off of what a radial tire would be, but not quite enough that they will be classified as radial. They will be marked on the tire as 20.8X38.

We have found that, just like in the other tire sizes, many different classes run the same tire. Classes can range widely in horsepower and weight, so we started making the tire in different ply ratings, tailored to the classes. We will do the same for this tire, so no matter if it is an 11,000 class, or an mph antique class, we will have a tire for you. 10 ply, 12 ply, and 14 ply will be available.

The tires will have the same Soy-Track rubber compound that our larger tires have. We believe the slower wheel speed classes may see the biggest benefit of traction with the soybean oil rubber compound.

As is typical with Pro Puller Tires, we will have the tires at maximum legal specifications for any league, without going over. We have spent a ton of time learning what we can do to get the most out of the tire without going overboard. 219" of circumference and 21" wide to conform with rules. When you compare this to any cut ag tire, we will have our lugs going the full 21" all the way across the tire. You cannot get full bar width out of an ag tire.

One of the biggest advantages to this tire will be the underlayment rubber. With Ag style tires, not only do you not get a full width footprint, but you are very limited on the amount of times you can cut the tire. Our tire will have the longest life for cutting of any 20.8X38 out there.

I hope this answers some of your questions, Thank you.

Re: 20.8X38 Pro Puller Holeshot July 19, 2021 01:56AM
Do you plan to do this for 18.4? Is the 18.4 classified as bias or radial as a 18.4R38?

Re: 20.8X38 Pro Puller Holeshot July 19, 2021 03:31AM
The 18.4 are also made overseas as of now and are a bias constructed tire. We may have a US made 18.4 at some point in the future, but do not have any plans in motion at this time.

20.8X38 Pro Puller Holeshot Update October 22, 2021 06:59AM
We have just finished the official first phase to get the all new 20.8X38 Pro Puller Holeshot built right here in the USA, by purchasing the mold. We are very excited to get this tire out to you, and expect it to be ready sometime mid season in 2022. The tire will be offered in a few different ply ratings, and we will learn more about which ply works best for each class as we get them tested. Some preliminary information is available on our website here. All tires will conform to the 21.3” tread width and 220” circumference at 10 psi rules set in place by PPL.

Pricing is not quite figured out at this time, but we should know more in the coming months to help out with year-end purchasing decisions. We will now be taking preorders and get names on a list for updates as more details come available.

Thank you for your support, and feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have.
