problems with profarm JD 4430 syncro trans
|
4430 JD puller
|
My son and I pull a 3x3 3000 rpm pro farm tractor. It is a JD 4430 with a syncro trans. Suddenly, now we can not get it into 7th or 8th gear. Is there any way to fix/modify this to work better? Someone told us to weld up the syncronizers to make them solid so we can grind it into gear. Can this be done? What is the best way to cure this? Does anyone have a 3 speed trans for a 4430 for sale? Thanks in advance for the help! |

You have a factory trans and can get it into 3rd, 5th, 4th, & 6th but not 7th & 8th? |

Usually we can get it into all gears but 7th. We do have to grind to get it into those gears however. |

Sounds more like your clutch isn't disengaging fully. Can you shift it with the engine not running. |

Either clutch like Chucky said or syncro's. On the syncro once you put it into a range (neutral between 1-3, 2-5, 4-7, or 6-8) that gear on the bottom shaft is engaged. From there you are either engaging high or low which both have syncro packs & are the exact same trans movement no matter which range you are in. Doesn't really make sense that you have having problems in 7th only - should be the same trans engagement as 3rd, 5th, & 8th. |
