gearing at 3000 rpm August 19, 2021 02:49AM
So I'm looking at building a 3 lm 3000 rpm tractor. seems like they run 18-22 mph. what kind of gearing does it take it manage that with a TA? I've heard direct but that seems awfully tall for 500 hp tractor

That does seem tall for 500 hp.... really depends on how big your tires are, lug height and track quality ect....

I'd guess you would need to be in the 26:1 (ish) range on a 20.8 38 with a ag tire.

Yes the class is 20.8 38 no cut.

The 3000 RPM class for Great Plains, West Central Iowa, and Northeast Nebraska is a road gear class for the most part if you are Red. A lot of these guys are averaging 20-24 mph. If you want to run high 3rd you can hang in but will be hard to be on top. High third probably puts you in at 17-19 mph depending on your R&P.

A lot of HEAVY hitters in that class from those 3 orgs. Fun group tho and good guys. Where are you located?
