318 Chrysler pistons would work at or around 5" stroke. Are you stroking it? 366 chevy pistons work well at stock stroke, flat top piston, get it to 0 deck with a truck head and you'll be around 12:1 |

BLACKSTACK460 not sure about stroking it yet.
I haven't found a kit cheaper than $5k for stroke I did find a set of pistons with the same bore for older Chrysler hemi engines I thought about trying. They are flat top and from my figures I should have about .030 pop out only problem is the wrist pin is about .090 bigger than stock 301. Really not wanting to get too crazy just like to get a little more |

Hey there - new member - not a puller but you guys have done it all so I figured I would start here - c301 pistons for rebuids seem to be approaching unobtainium - alot of undersize bearings too - dont know if they will ever be available again. looking for substitute pistons rods that work well in a daily use tractor - again not for pulling so dont need any crazy power or compression. Or if you guys know of someone who supplys the rebuild kits..... reliance doesnt seem to have much - not that it was ever quality stuff anyway.
I see above a few ideas but dont want to stroke - I found some buick V6 that would work for oversize but the compression height is off and havent compared pin sizes. Ill keep reseraching - thanks all! |
