Ford 6.6L truck head?
|

looking into building a 9000 for 3000rpm class my question is the 6.6L truck head comparable to the genesis head or is it a glorified 401 ag head? Also, are the intake & exhaust manifold any good?
Thanks in advance. |

I think you will be better off with the Genesis head. |

The truck head is by far better than the 401 head, not as good as genesis but still pretty good, I am using one off the 7.8 |

are all the truck heads the same between the 6.6L to the 7.8L? my next question is are the truck manifolds any good for pulling or is it better to use the ag manifolds? |

I am running the truck ex manifold and the truck intercooler intake man. The ex manifold is ok, just a little work to get the turbo up on top, it mounts off the side. The genesis manifold will work, you just half to retap the holes in the head, top or bottom, cant remember witch ones. |

I have been told that a stock 456 head will out flow a 401 with work done to it. What about the 7.8 truck head, which is better 474 or 456. |

from what i've been understanding is the 474 head is better for big cubes due to the large valves but has poorly designed ports, the 456 head is better for smaller cubes with the bigger than 401 valves and the best port design. correct me if im wrong that how I under stand it. |

from what I see you can't get much more valve then the 456-bore is still 4.4 stock in the 7.8 unless of course you bore out bigger! and maybe offset the valves-lot of work! don't know what valves are in a 7.8, I have one, just haven't the time to look into it yet. am sure others can tell you more! |

The 456 an 474 heads both have the same size valves. The valves on the 474 truck head are spaced apart more than the 456 witch works better with a big bore. The intake ports on the 456 head has better flow than on the 474 head do to the more stright port to the valve. |

I run a 474 head with stock bore and 2 inch intake valve and have another 474 head with offset valve guides with 2.2 intake valves which will work with stock 4.4 bore but Ive been told that a 456 head is still better due to the improved port design |
