903 Cummins injection question December 29, 2021 02:29PM
Looking into adding a second modified to our stable. A triple turbo charged 903 Cummins on Diesel has sparked our interest. How are the guys that run Cummins engines in Semi pullers injecting the fuel in to them? They have the rocker arm actuated injectors from the PT pump. Would the PT pump feed enough fuel to put out 4000+ hp? Or are those guys building heads and putting on inline injection pumps with external injectors?

Don't see many 903 Cummins in semi class.
Back up the bus and get a 3406 or a KT Cummins.
Sell the 903 to an alcohol tractor team.

20 yrs ago there was a marmon truck that used a 903,thinkin his name was mark freidline,out of pennsylvania.

second that on the not using a 903 and most of the multi charger semis pulling are going back to single charger just to so they live longer since at one time i had herd the a few of the multi chargers mack V8s and the Cats were trashing blocks every run... KT cummins or Cat C15-3406. And besides that the 903s that run on alky fuel are of the VT Marine series

No, the PT system will not support that sort of HP and the 903 block kept at 903cid will not hold up either.

There’s a lotta reasons to not use a 903, weight being one especially on diesel. At 903 it wouldn’t live either.
A 466 ih based 3 charger on alcohol would be the way to go. Build a good bottom end, fuel, and rocker system and you’ll have something that will run, can get parts for, and will stay together.
