utility hot farm class KY May 11, 2022 02:46PM
Anyone in KY that would be interested in around a 4500 to 5500 pound utility tractor class let me know. Something like 18.4 x 30 tires; 250 cubes; turbo; 4 Cylinder Max. How many would be interested the above numbers, was just an idea.

I’m still interested

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 12, 2022 10:10AM
Diesel only? I have been planning to start on a small 6cyl alky for llss that I would much rather use in a utility type class to keep cost reasonable. 250ci wouldn’t be a problem if you’re not set on 4cyl only.

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 12, 2022 10:39AM
Six cylinders wouldnt work off the bat because it wouldnt keep the cost reasonable for this class .This would be a true introductory class something for the 175 mf 2030 johns 574 ih and such tractors .Box turbo factory engines weight could be a little heavier depending on interest I have a well known organization interest in such a class 270 566 2901 is my number this class will not have any bull crap rules like the lite hot farm class had that killed it befor it got started

I like the idea. I always thought the light hot farm should have included big cube open rpm n/a spark plug option.

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 12, 2022 12:28PM
Can the engine be a transplant?

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 12, 2022 02:06PM
Why would u need transplants. Every company out there has a utility tractor to fit a 250 cube class, if this happens it will be a true tractor class except for the add on turbo. Choose your weapon, start with the tractor that has the engine u want. No transplants needed, no crybaby stuff. IF you choose one with a cav pump when another company offered a inline such as ford david brown deutz and others

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 12, 2022 02:09PM
I like Oliver tractors, but I can't think of one that would fit this class without a lot of work. An engine transplant such as a Cummins 4bt would be a good fit to the class engine rules.

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 12, 2022 02:28PM
Well oliver had the models made by Long with the Fiat engines there aren't any out there that are any stronger than green.

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 12, 2022 02:39PM
I suppose I could try to find a green White 60, it came from the factory with a 4BT. They are too heavy stock, but could probably strip it down.

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 12, 2022 02:57PM
There u go

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 13, 2022 03:46AM
That would be a real go getter!

now that would help get my lambo out and about

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 13, 2022 05:25AM
A 5000 or 7000 Ford would be cool but too many cubes to start.

Who's gonna police a 304 showing up....

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 13, 2022 07:38AM
65-3/68 a 5000 Ford was 233. 4/68 on they were 256.

There's that, too. I couldn't remember the year change. We owned 2 with the 256 and 1 that had a 233. Thanks Gary.

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 13, 2022 08:42AM
Make this worth the trouble and I would attempt to have 3 so that my sons could get into it and at around 5k# I could still haul all 3 and they would probably all be different colors definitely a Massey and Allis not sure on the third
This would be a nice step up from antique and maybe some antique clubs would adopt it all over
It doesn’t look like the mini rod diesel class is going to take off do to cost ,but I think this would if it the rules keep it in check
A turbo charged diesel will get a teenager’s attention more than an antique so there’s your way to spark an interest

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 13, 2022 09:48AM
I know of 2, 5000 row crops that have factory 256s in them no turbo. The 7000 had 256 turbo charged.

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 13, 2022 02:08PM
This could be a good class but already the talk of a 256 ford take the 233 to 250 ALL utility tractors that can make 5500 pounds 250 cubes will catch them a 7600 would be tuff to get that light because this will be a real tractor class none of the tube chassis stuff

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 15, 2022 05:49AM
This seems in principle like a great idea and a neat class for sure. Something different and easy to truck it around. Just one question - why exactly 250ci for the limit? I'm not a ford guy, but I know full well the 5000 was produced with the 256 (non turbo) because we had one on the farm for years. This is an immensely popular tractor. Why would you exclude the 256 when we are talking 6 cubes? Like, do you expect people to go out and scrounge the salvage yards for a 233 specifically so you can spend even more money to bump it back up to 256? That is ridiculous. Sounds like a personal agenda is being hidden here somewhere.......

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 15, 2022 12:12PM
know your agenda is why every class out there is a money pit most utility tractors that will fit in the 5500 pound range are in the 239 cube range ih 239 jd 236 your ford 233 case 207 allis 236 david browns 212 longs 219 for exaples so forget the 250 240 will save a lot of cash for every one SO you take your 256 ford and want every one else to build to your tractor LETS NOT ALREADY HAVE A TRACTOR ITS A NEW CLASS MAKE THE RULES READ THE RULES AND THEN GO BUY A TRACTOR THAT FITS THE RULES . Is it fair for every one else to bore and stroke to match your tractor at 256 5000 dollars will buy any brand tractor out there to start this class Beside case has a 336 4cyl MF has a 319 so then what you made a good point 240 cubes would be great the older 5000 fords with the 233 will be cheaper to buy slap some 0.40 of the shelf pistons in it and go have fun

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 16, 2022 07:03AM
I have no agenda. I asked a simple question, as it seems odd to exclude a very popular and easily accessible model based on 6 ci. You have answered with some reasonable points, no need to yell and scream and have a tantrum. I hear what you are saying. Best wishes with your class venture.

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 16, 2022 07:15AM
Just another problem class to cause more unrest, too many ideas on how it should be rather than how the rules were made to be.

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 16, 2022 02:58PM
I would like it but then again i am a ways off from anywhere that might run the class but it would be cheaper to haul, but my 77 oliver ain't gonna be legal but the junk david brown and the scrap iron massey harris would be, maybe i can find a 1365 oliver or a 2-60 whie be really neat and different

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 16, 2022 09:23AM
Lewis, I would have to agree the 240 Cubic inch might be a better solution. If someone wants to use a 4 cylinder engine that has over 240 cu. in., they can debore or destroke. Power Bore will make you sleeves to run a smaller piston. This was the same problem 50 years ago when NTPA decided to make a standard set of rule. Some people wanted big cubic inch engines.

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 16, 2022 09:09AM
You would be lucky to get a Ford 3000 or 4000 down to the weight of 4500 #

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 16, 2022 11:27AM
Shouldn't be much trouble to get one of the Fords down to 4500lbs, i know a 165 Massey Ferguson can be got down there with 18.4- 38s on it, we did it,so the Ford wouldn't be any heavier i wouldn't think.

Re: utility hot farm class KY May 16, 2022 02:19PM
I dont think theres much intererest i have Brandans interest KTPA, but we would have to have the tractors .With todays sleds it would be something different and put on a good show. I will make sure its fair and not a money pit , who ever mentioned de cubing it's not going to happen, no reason for that if I have anything to do with it .But there seems to be no interest
