Need some help with pulling my 1066 in the farm class.

young new puller needs advice
|
I am 16 and started pulling are 1066 this summer we don't use on the farm much anymore at a couple of local county fairs. It has a remaned 466, 3lm, and the stock pump turned al the way up. With 20.8-38 firstone radials i can only pull high 1st, 2nd it runs out of powerin the 13,000 farm class stock rpms. I didn't ever place. Everyone else is pulling high 2nd and sometimes 3rd. I know the next step would be to get a 13mm pump, but what size injectors and lines should i buy? Everyone tells me something different. Some say 4x22 or 4x24 others say 5x20 or 5x22. I'm not sure what the difference is. Any help would be helpful. Would like to buy the right ones. What about lines, 93 or 120 ? |

been there done that with a1466 do you still want to work with it? 13mm pump you can"t also you will start blowing head gaskets. you have to fire ring it first!!! 4hole 26or28 is easyer on pump,93lines are fine. But jd and case have apumps and better govenors, apump will bolt on for less money more cc of fuel less trouble and you can still cut hay just like cases 5488ih came with them |

making the tractor lighter in not a option, they run non-turbo. 12,000 is as light as i could ever pull.
We also have to stay with a stock appearing pump. If we did need to use it on the farm we would just put the stock pump back on. |

Call Nick, at Mccormick Diesel, in builders links. 5 hole injectors 93 lines would be my choice. sounds like your timing might be off. Gona open a hole new can of worms if you put the 13 pump on. Will need better clutch, bearing support and better TA. |

No, We have other newer tractors on the farm, the 1066 isn't used much anymore. I was told if I spend my own money, i can make it a puller.
That's why I am looking for advise. |

if you have the stock pump on the tractor i was wondering if you have done anything to the inside of the Pump. Did you remove the Horses Head or turned it straight up so the torque rise isnt stopped |

My advise is not to. Keep it stock and when you want to step up, find a tractor that has had the changes done to it. There is a lot of $ to be spent on taking a stock tractor up to any kind of pulling tractor. And there is a plenty of tractors out there that have been changed to pullers that you can buy one cheaper than you can build one. I know a guy that bought a JD 4010 quite a few years ago, kept up grading it to what it is today. He also says it would have been cheaper and a lot more fun to have bought a tractor ready to go. But he also claims that it came with a warrenty (to burn oil) |

13 mm pump,,,.024,,4 hole nozzles,,,.093 lines,,,timing at approx.24 degrees,,,and it will make good power,,,add about 14, to 16 oz, of water in ur crossover pipe,,,,,,,,you will need a 2 disc clutch assy to pull 3rd gear,,,a well built ta,,is fine,,,no bearing support needed,,,,,,however,,,,if you run high rpm,s.....you will need to have valve train work done,,the stock valve retainer keepers will fail,,,,which will give you a major engine failure !!..need any help, need a pump built...call us,,,410-259-7505 |

pumps, injectors, lines, ta...bigger imput shafthaha.... Ya'll r gonna have this boy spending all kinds of money. I suggest u just keep it like it is turn the timing up some and go. If you are gonna seriously invest a dime in this, put ur pump in a box and send it to jeff. Tell him you want to win with it at 3000rpms, and tell him to send it back with a set of injectors and prebent lines, yes he has clutches, get one of those too, and one of his low rpm chargers he has designed for farm pulling. It will be more expensive but it will all be RIGHT!!! and you will have a better chance of winning. you won't do good going pullling half a$$ing everything. This is a bad habit to start so don't start if ur not ready to spend alot of money. |
Which injectors should be used? 4 holes or 5?

The 4's ran just fine with a 13mm pump. Defiantly would recommend the double disc clutch. been there slipped the single. |

would like to know too
|
We are using 5-20 injectors with a 13mm rotary and a 466 ih. They seem okay, but were not at the top of the class.
We have no access to a dyno locally. |
