What do you torque an IH head down to that has a copper head gasket and .105 fire rings? I changed from bolts to studs and I can not get it to seal at 185 ft/lbs. |

Have you called and asked the stud manufacturer? |

I make them and sell them, do not over torque them! If you torque over about 180 FP on a 9/16 stud you have little reserve before it yields. Use ARP Ultratorque lube to get the best clamping force. I tested different lubes and found it to be the best by about 10% on clamping force.

I am not good at posting links, should practice.
The easiest is to go to my website, Fanta-Machine.com , then click on "Tractor pullers and engine builders", that will take you to a page that has pointers to some of the videos. The site needs updating as we have other items besides studs. Ed. |

Please don't do that. Both ARP and the ones we make here yield at the equivalent of 230 - 240 FP, you have little left over for reserve.
