466 fuel & water

What would be an average setup on water and fuel for an 8500 limited pro 466 open rpm. Currently set at 800cc & 50 oz. Just haven't had the time to get to dyno with latest pump & turbo. |

Yes I have a data logger. Just wanted to know if fuel and water settings were too much or too little to start. |

?

Do you have a data logger? |

Up the fuel, water is in the ball park |

Thank You! Got timing set at 36 so just wanted to be close enough to adjust from there. I know every set up is a little different but enough of these are out there that kind of have a good idea where I'll end up. |

Would you guys recommend higher timing? Don't know what the lowest point would be to run and be safe so starting at 36. |

34-36 is usually safe without dyno. We run a few more ounces of water then you are but just watch the egts on the data logger and it'll be fine |

We have a 466 with harts latest 3x3, pro farm/hot farm open rpm motor and you are in the same ball park as us. On the dyno we did push timing to 38 and found it reliable. This is with harts pistons and big body injectors. Would you be willing to share your flow and swirl numbers in your oem head? |

Head flow is around 270 I believe without double checking. Not sure if I have the swirl numbers. We have GMS pistons with billet stock body injectors |

What size turbo? If bigger than 3x3 you might need more fuel and water. I am running 1050 and 90 oz. It all depends on cam, turbo and head work. |

Appreciate all the info. Glad there are people still out here to share their advice and input. It is a 3x3.2 turbo with a good oem ported head. Thank you |

Depending on your injectors and pistons 36 is pushing it on timing, you’ll be over spraying the bowl and hurting stuff… |

90oz of water per what;. 10 sec? 15 sec? 20sec? Wouldn't it be better to state it in oz/sec? |

90 oz is for average 13 second run. Each tractor is different. I tune based on EGT's and boost. Timing also makes big differences. I am running a lot more timing than stated. Also running 3X4 turbo so it's apples vs oranges. I would turn fuel and water up until smoke gets lazy then back down water until EGT's become issues. I have never burn turbo up by having too much water. I may have lost power but at least I did not have to buy new turbo. Just my $0.02 worth |

To "cliff", not a pure science by any means, a timed amount of water per run would be impossible, sled settings, track conditions, and many more issues go into each individual run, one run as you stated might be10 seconds, the next 15. Most likely will not change water amount during a run. |

I agree with plum krazy water is not linear with time. I use belt driven pump, so RPMs has more to do with amount of water used. The higher RPMs you average the more water. So, I can change water by shifting down a gear. To throw another rat on the table pressure that you run will also affect how much water you can run. If you run lower pressure system, you cannot run as much as you can with high pressure system (1500 psi or higher) |

Great feedback on the water injection question.
So many variables... electric vs direct vs psi vs sled setting vs track condition vs turbo size vs timing vs etc.... Sounds like a whole science in itself. I know some guys are injecting pre turbo and others are saying that's a No-No. Also heard of guys spraying into the involute housing via port in the casting. Some guys running 3000 psi plus. Not even going to touch on what get's injected.... assuming its H2O only. Wow what a bunch of variables to experiment with. That's what I love about this Sport. |

Cliff your correct a lot of variables. The key IMO is enough water to keep turbo alive. |
