Could they hang?
|
A buddy and I are having a friendly discussion about pro stocks. With all the same rules for cubes, turbos, weight, and tires..... could a pro stock on alcohol hang with a traditional diesel pro in the heavy class? |

I believe that they could. Why would they be any different than the supers? |

Before Don Nolan quit pulling in the late 80s, he put the hurting on many a diesel prostock with his g1000 on alcohol. |

With old 45 degree tires..it sure was impressive.that tractor is probably the reason pro is diesel only |

I've always been under the impression it had alot to do with prostock becoming diesel only. |

Nolan had "misfire #1" which was a red g1000 on propane. Then build yellow fever which started life as a super stock running various turbo settups, from twins, triples, and twin compound settup (a set on the front 3 and back 3 cylinders). Then switched to prostock.
DeClerck drove a g1000 vista "power without smoke" which is probably the tractor you're thinking of. |

There's been a pro stock running on LP for years including right now. G1000 known as Fools Gold. Competitively speaking it can hang but definitely seems under powered compared to it's diesel competition.
Alcohol would likely be an entirely different story. Although the NFMS and the super stock class this year would prove that the diesels are capable of beating the alcohol tractors on any given night, Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/07/2022 03:00AM by BrandonA. |
