LLSS at Bowling Green??

Just Sayin’

Yeah, let’s see this group as a GN class and pull at BG (as some suggested)
Too bad bc it is a good class to watch pull but too much bellyaching and crying Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/06/2022 12:19AM by Jake Morgan. |

Well, first there needs to be a set of rules.
You know, NATIONAL rules. This has been talked about for at least 12 years. |

Supertiquer speaks the TRUTH! And it is sad, because LLSS is an awesome class! Get ya alls crap together, or remain a brush pull class forever. |
Re: LLSS at Bowling Green??

hmmm

Apparently, Supertiquer and HP do not consider NTPA LLSS rules to be "national" rules. |

When people use the word "national" in this discussion, they're typically meaning something closer to the word "unified." Not one organization running 6,000 pounds, another running 6,250, and yet another running 6,500 pounds... Thank you John. Very well said. The weight is the big problem on "unified" rules with the class and as HP said it's sad. It really is a good class with lots of color. |

Why does it matter if local clubs have different weights? There's a lot light super clubs that have different weights , but the GN class and PPL championship tour is set at 6400 for light supers. So if the LLSS was a GN class wouldn't they have a set weight? And wouldn't these tractors still pull on a bigger stage? Edited 2 time(s). Why does a LLSS need to weight any more than 6000 lbs? |
Re: LLSS at Bowling Green??

1. Big difference between sand and clay, tracks.
2. Multible States are running 6250 or 6500 or 6700 (diesel). 3. Not everyone wants to pull with a 16 inch hitch. Cheaper(time and money) for the 6000lb folks to hang 2 weights on. |

The six thousand pounds is not the big issue the issue is the 6000 pounds is a rule meant to be used as an equelizer to keep the big spenders in tack and help the lower budjet pullers so they have a chance as horse power keeps increasing the extra weight will only benifit the big spenders |

Not always the case, lower powerd truck and tractors get weight, in mixed classes.

In my opinion, Lewis is 100% right !!!! This is the most accurate an true statement on this thread -- 6000lbs in meant to level the playing field . |

Truly unify your rules across board if you ever want to move up.
No one has time to truly tech fourteen different possible combos in a nationally-aligned class. As I mentioned in a previously deleted thread...that I didn't delete btw...settle the class the differences in a manner that is courteous, civil, and professional. Any step up to the biggest stages in the sport requires that. The problem is that are some civil, courteous, and professional pullers already in the class getting caught in this continuing fecal hurricane that pops up on this page...and they stay the he!! away from it to their credit. Think about that. |

I'd think the 466 based trs would do better the heavier t he wt due to better heads |

Yes horsepower has to have weight. That 466 example is a reason to keep the weight down. I quit pulling 4 years ago and in just 4 years tractors have went from 1000-1100 horsepower to 1600-1700 horsepower. If you low budget pullers think you will keep up by giving these class wrecker guys with a unlimited budget and two or three tractors in the class extra weight, you are NUTS! Make the class 7000 thousand pounds so you can see just how far money can make HP and put a smoking on ya with that extra weight to hook them up. Edited 1 time(s). I get your protecting the budget puller however, the heavy states have budget pullers also.
The trouble is we pull on clay, that takes front end weight. Landing sideways on the track, getting ran over by the sled is not good, for anyone. |

No matter if you think how much money your budget is or what the weight should be . People will still spend the money to be competitive . That's the nature of competition. |

So what your saying is, the 4000hp lss weighing 6400 gets down those clay tracks just fine, but your 1500 needs as much or more Wright? The light class has always had wild rides. Learn how to setup your tractor. 30 tractors in KY that have no problem. Those guys work on their tractors and spend the money. And yes, the lower budget guys can compete. Part of what makes it great. |

A component at 6400, vs a cast 4010 at 6000, I wonder what combo has more movable weight, oh wait I know already.
How low do you drop your hitch? Kentucky sand, is not Wisconisn clay. Just more evidence, LLSS has no place at Bowling Green. |

All goes back to setting your tractor up. I won several pulls with a 19" bar. Too many people want what's best for them instead of what's best for the class. If you want the class to grow, keep it somewhat affordable for the little guy. Of course the guy with the money is going to spend it but like Lewis said, you keep it light and the little guy can still get wins. Let the big money guys have weight and they will dominate.. |

All fine for a Kentucky brush pull, this thread is about LLSS at Bowling Green.
A pull that draws from far more, than 1 state. |

Gene Sharber had a beautiful 4010 ( Hard Cash ) that was under 5000lbs with 2 chargers on it back in the mid 80s -- so a 4010 can be lightened up, just got to want it an do it . |

I don't think anyone saying this can't be done. That was then ,a lot of safety features have been add since the 80's. Why does this class always what to live in the past? Hp in them days were 800-900 for LLSS? And now pushing over 1500? To be realistic and to get to GN or PPL championship tour this back and forth weight issue is a mood point when the nigher up sets the weight. The NTPA already has since the class is in Enderlee this year. |
Re: LLSS at Bowling Green??
|
WHY
|
This class is a perfect example of why pulling goes NO WHERE!!!!!!!!!.
Someone starts a class because they want a cheaper way to pull. So they come up with some rules, tweak them over time and say now we have a cheap class. Then Joe Blow a few states away wants the same class, but thinks he has a better idea on how the rules should be, so those folks get together and make their rules. On it goes. So then overtime more tractors come, more folks spending money at building them, cost starts to get out of hand. No longer a easy class to come into. Then more rule disagreements. Then because we have numbers we should be on the GRAND STAGE, because EVERYONE SHOULD GET A TROPHY!!!!!!! Will guess what?? The wheel for this class did not need to be reinvented just needed tweaked from what was. It was called the 5,000 SS which then went to 5500 for safety reason. Then went to 6200 because of motor size. Seems pretty crazy to be over 5500. When the class went away from 5500 there were folks making over a 1000 hp's then. But like the rest of the pulling world nobody every gets their $hit together. There will probably at some point be another new class that states its is an entry class and is cheap to get in just like this one. Sad VERY VERY Sad.. |

And this has nothing to do with Bowling Green in 2023, I saw a WD 45 at 2800lb's back in the stone age. You expect tractors from 5 states (that very well conected to the NTPA and PPL) to be stripped down, so a few cry babies, don't need to pitch some iron. Sorry the 4.1's or 540's or 3.6 Pro stock trucks are better replacements. |

So much for this thread being about adding LLSS to BG...off the rails about weight again. Didn't we just have the weight discussion on Monday? |
