Turbo upgrade options for 1066 farm tractor November 02, 2022 12:59PM
I’ve got a 1066 with a dt468 engine. It has the mw Bosch inline pump on it which I will probably pull off an put a model100 back on sometime. It’s turned up some and is very stout and I wanna put a better than stock turbo on it, I’ve got a couple of 3lm466s on some tractors I farm with and have had one on a puller and I think they’re a great turbo and not opposed to putting one on this one either but just wondering if anyone else has tried anything else. It’s been dynoed an at 250 it maxed it and wasn’t even working the governors yet, I’ll mainly just do a little hay work an piddle around an pull it a few times a year but no really hard work. I know a 3lm is hard to beat but just looking for some other opinions, thanks!

Borg Warner s362sxe 62/68 or s360sx 60/68 w/ 360 bearing upgrade.

The 3LM may have been a hard turbo to beat 15-20 years ago, but currently, there are a lot better options like the S360 mentioned above.

Would it be laggy? I’ve seen s300s on them around here but running 13mms and injectors too, It’s not a hot rod or anything I’m just looking for something to move a little more air I’m guessing it’s around 300hp, but I’ll probably end up putting a good m100 back on it, I would like a 11mm but probably have to settle with a 10 that’s maxed, I don’t want to build a full blown puller out of it I already have one and can’t afford 2 lol

S300sx 60/68 with a .91 housing or S257sxe with a 1.15 housing then. The S257sxe equivalent to a 3lm but new technology and moves more air. What’s the others running engine wise? A 300hp Dt466 should have no problem spinning any I’ve listed. Personally seen all three options on farm tractors with less HP and mph pullers with less CI. Just adjust the fuel for the desired boost and work load for farming.

Fair Valley Performance now offers kits to adapt a S257SXE or S252SXE to a DT466 engine with the exhaust housing machined to fit into the factory cast elbow. They also have kits to adapt those turbos on a IH 1206 and 1256/1456 and use the factor cast elbow to make it a mostly bolt on turbo upgrade from the 3LM466 the the modern version. 608-643-0200 info@fvpdiesel.com
