Watching the street classes,it sounds like most pullers with manual trans turn the motors pretty hard,I guess both gas and diesels,has anyone ever seen a factory diesel flywheel come apart ? I probably see over a 1000 hooks a year and havent.is there a difference in automotive cast and ag cast ??

Several (many) yrs ago, a new V10 Dodge pickup with manual 6 spd, was trying to run a high gear and slipped the clutch too far out of the hole and the heat caused the factory set up to come thru the floor,dash and windshield.,Very new pickup totally ruined.Lucky no one was hurt. Yes, differences in casting specs, Detroit two stroke diesels were supposedly good up to 4k, stock flywheel.military specs were that high.

Fortunately, even if its a "street" truck, hardly any of them are using a factory clutch and flywheel. Most aftermarket flywheels are billet or at least better replacements than the factory one, and in any class above the street class they are required to have a blanket or blowproof can.

In a Dodge for example, even in stock or slightly modified engine, you would need a clutch like one of these if you wanted to even attempt pulling:

As you can see the flywheel is SFI certified
