Hitch design

Looking at different hitches to put on. It there any hitch design that has not been good. Most mount forward to where the original yoke pulled from. Have seen some that don’t and are just bolted to the case. Does the engineering behind these change much? |

On a rigid frame tractor that pivots around the rear axle, statics and dynamics say the only thing that matters forward of the hitch point is that the system be rigid. If there is any black magic in a hitch it has to be in the interaction between the hook and the hitch. Search on here and you will find a post by Doug Roberts about things they did on the alky Barnyard Beast, but science doesn’t back up his theories. |

A rounded hook point is important as far as I’m concerned,it lets the hook be able to roll smoothly as the angle changes |

One size does not fit all, for sure similarities, but so many types of unites pulling, speed, torque, tire, HP, size, weight all matter, track type also.Mounting method shares engineering ingenuity, some rules require safety precautions built in, others no so much, lever factors, physics and geometry all play a role, adjustablity is a huge factor to consider.Angle is limited in some venues, so it must matter. |

Is anyone familiar with this hitch? It bolts directly to the case. Nothing attached to where the factory yoke was attached. |

Makes more sense to pull from farther forward ! |

Any device to hook to will in fact work, but like all thingees in Life, some are Superior, some Inferior, suitabilities depend on many factors. Being in the ball park often is the goal, perfection is not obtainable. |

That way there is no down force on the rear wheels and they are free to spin. |

Pressure on the rear axle is not the only concern with the hook point, front end needs to be stable also. |
