What is a box turbo? September 12, 2009 11:36PM
What is an actully box turbo? I see its running in second place in the poll for the new NTPA class. I assume thats right off the shelf. So no ball bearings or billet wheel?

Yes it an off the shelf turbo. The rules establish which part number(s) can be used. For example Outlaw SF allows either the std bearing or ball bearing version of the GT42 with a particluar compressor housing & several exhaust housing options. I don't think anyone would have a problem with the bearing mods some shops do for reliability - the main concern is that the wheels are as from the factory.
