Anyone know how many rpm's you can safely turn a sbjd with a cam driven, stock oil pump? Thanks for your input. |

I have been running my 404 with cam driven pump in open rpm's but I dont get carried away,I run around 4000 and have not had any problems but have been told it will strip out. I run on a very tight budget so in my case time will tell. |

Thanks for the info. I have heard the pump will cavitate around 4000rpm and lose pressure. I had major bearing failure this summer and the only conclusion I could come to was the pump lost pressure for a brief time during the run. The cam and pump gear were in great shape, anyone else have any thoughts? thanks. |

We have cam driven stock oil pump running @ around 4500-4700 rpm peak and have had no major trouble yet. Running 15w40 conventional oil. Had one main show the slightest bit of an issue, but no damage, all others good after 2 seasons running (approx 60 runs). |

I burnt 3 rod bearings, 6-5-4 then the rear main burnt also. The bearings were Clevite, with 5 runs on them. |
