Weight of a 560 with gas 466 July 27, 2023 10:58AM
Does anyone know of any Farmall 560s with a gas converted N/A 466 that can run 4500 lb class without using like a billet aluminum block or head?

I have an opportunity to snag a 466 and would like to do something different (I know... not always better) than the RD route. It looks like Floyd Isbell's website is no longer active, and I am not sure of anyone else that is playing with the 466 in a 560 chassis.

Thanks

Easy to get to 4500 with stock block and head. This is not new or different. This is the hot combo out there. Just be prepared to spend $50k+

Can you cut a lot of weight out of a 560 rearend

It will go as light as your pocket book will allow. Aluminum heads, blocks, adapter plates, front covers, axel housings, top covers, sheetmetal, wheels, front frame, flywheel, etc. All of that is out there along with some extensive machine work on the cast housings. I’ve seen a GVI moline weigh 4500 & a D21 AC make 5000lb so there’s no reason a 560 couldn’t see 3500lb

I have seen them as low as 5000 with a c301 based setup. I just was not aware of anyone who has officially made it to 4500 without aluminum block or aluminum head in a 400 series block.

With a 301 you can get them under 4,000

Typo sorry! (Not enough coffee yet I guess)

I have seem them at 5000# with a 400 series but not below and that was what I was contemplating

Boy it would be tough to get a 560 under 4000 even with a 301. I have a 460 utility with more aluminum than steel or cast and it weighs 3300 bare, and a 560 is naturally 500+ pounds heavier than a 460. In the antique world there are plenty of 560s that make 4500 with a 400 series. Theres only one 400 series tractor I can think of that was even close to 4000 and that was a 460.

Where can you go to get a 560 rearend cut out

560 emblems/sheetmetal, who cares what the rest is. If whomever your pulling with doesn't care that your running a different engine they aren't going to care what chassis it is.

I have a 560 with a 466 that I pull at 4500 with a couple hundred pounds of movable weight. I weigh around 225#
