Enderle Pull-Off September 16, 2009 12:30AM
Some information for those coming to the Enderle in Urbana, OH on Sept. 19th.

The main entrance to the Champaign County Fairgrounds is on US 68 roughly ¾ mile south of Monument Square in the center of town, which is where 68 intersects with US 36/St. Rt. 29. Powell Avenue serves as a back entrance to the fairgrounds, as well as the main entrance for spectator parking, and can be accessed via 68 (turn at the GMC dealership south of the main entrance), and is the 2nd light coming into town from the south (first light being St. Rt. 55). Powell Ave can also be reached via St. Rt. 54 if coming from the east (turn left at the McDonald’s/Taco Bell/Blockbuster video intersection, go out of town past the cemetery and turn right at the first T road).
The easiest entrances for haulers, etc. would be the main entrance or St. Rt. 54 to Powell Ave. The intersection of Powell & US 68 is very tight and can be difficult for semis or larger vehicles.

Lodging
There are two hotels in the immediate area. Econo Lodge is located on US 68 south of Urbana approximately 2 miles. The Country Hearth Inn is located on US 36 on the eastern end of Urbana. Both locations have space for parking larger vehicles if needed, in the case of Country Hearth Inn there is a small gravel area behind the hotel. Additional hotels are located 9 miles to the south in Springfield, 16 miles to the north in Bellefontaine, or 26 miles to the west in Piqua.

Food
On the eastern side of town there are a lot of fast food restaurants and pizza places spread around. St. Rt. 29 at the eastern edge of Urbana has a Mexican restaurant and bar, and a Frisch’s is located in the Kroger shopping center nearby. The square at the center of town has a few different bars and restaurants as well, including a nice Italian, and homestyle restaurant. The local airport located at the north edge of town has a restaurant with plenty of parking and easy access for large vehicles. If you like sliders, Crabill’s is a popular hamburger joint located about a half mile west of the square on the south side of the road just past the feed mill.

If arriving early, or needing other overnight parking options, the Wal-Mart Supercenter on US 36 at the east edge of Urbana has plenty of well-lit, easy access space. The shopping center off of 54 has bit of space, as does portions of Kroger. However, a large portion of the lot in front of the adjacent old Wal-Mart building has posted no truck/semi parking.

Looking forward to a great event and a lot of fun!

Urbana, OH - Construction Info September 16, 2009 10:25AM
There is construction going on in Urbana right now, from the Monument square east on Scioto St (US 36/St. Rt. 29). This is mainly just grinding and repaving from the square east, most of which should be done by Friday. However, there is large project going on concerning the square itself (intersection of 36/29 and US 68).

It is being converted from an intersection maintained by traffic signals into a roundabout, without the traffic lights. The conversion will take place overnight Thursday into Friday. Not sure how many have ever navigated roundabouts but it will probably be a learning process around here, so be careful traveling through the area. Things should be easier for semis and larger vehicles to travel through the intersection than before, especially if turning left or going straight. Below is a link to the City of Urbana page. On the right side beneath the logo are a couple links regarding the roundabout for those interested.

Safe travels to everyone coming through the area, and to those travelling to get here.
