3X4 banned March 31, 2024 11:50PM
Has anyone heard of the possible new regulations on 3x4 turbos with the 200 map ring which would be banned soon in the NTPA?

What class?

All class

That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. The only classes that it would be allowed in are from Limited Pros and up. Don't know why anyone would run that small turbo when you are allowed a 4.1 and larger is beyond me. Maybe the 4.1 class is a Smooth bore? In that case it would not be allowed. But Light pro and on could run them but would not be in the game.

The 3x4 map groove charger was voted out for the 2024 season in LLSS. I’ve been told the map groove charger for hot farm is probably going away for 2025. Smooth bore is apparently easier to tech according to officials.

Someday everyone will be smart enough to run a box turbo and quit wasting money

I wish you were a registered member so I could give it a thumbs up. Even in the smooth bore classes the builders are eliminating one blade at a time at the inlet to make each new model flow a tiny bit more air.

I’m interested how the restrictor plates have worked out in Europe. I’m sure there were a few rounds of turbo improvements after they were implemented, but if they settled in after that I would consider that a viable option too.

You will never find a company to build a box 3x4! Why would they? Sell 1 turbo for years of service when people will pay 6-7k every 6 months to a year for the promise of another 20-40hp. That’s just bad business!
