\\\\\\\ BG LSS ring winner update ///////

I just noticed on the NTPA web site that they have awarded the LSS ring winner to Rex Kuhn. Did Rex also win the $10,000, seems like they must be tied together. Did the NTPA give first points to Rex also. I believe that the ring and the 10k are awarded by the Bowling Green pull committee. And basically that is their award to give out. Does anyone know how the reversal of the reversal happened. What was the chain of events that happened to give the ring back to Rex. It sure looks like a mess that never should have happened. If you read the Press release Rex got the Ring only by virtue he was on the grounds both days. Josh got the win and the $10000 bonus in addition to 1st place purse money. |

I understand stand that the ring went to Rex and I now see that Josh got the money, I really don't care how it played out what, What I wonder is how it all happened? Maybe waiting on the announcement before you gathered all the facts would have avoided this situation. And can tell what the rule in the NTPA rule book says would be helpful, not what we used to do, but what does the rule say. Dick Morgan www.PULLOFF.com Independent Pulling News |

this is absolutely the right decision. The problem is it took five days to get it out. For those of you who wonder why the sport doesn’t grow and needs to be more professional, like many of the drivers have said. the leadership at the NTPA is absolutely pathetic. Based on this decision five days late, the knee-jerk reaction at the pull which was wrong to disqualify josh to begin with and probably the worst operating/ user friendly website on the Internet from the legit company. If you were a company and had dollars to throw at NTPA for sponsorship and only been around for a week and looked at the above 3 things, you would not be returning anyone’s phone call. what a joke. |

The NTPA press release says that not all LSS were not able to compete because it started to rain after Josh had hooked, however when I look at the NTPA's site is doesn't list anyone else in the class except Bryan Bowles with Alter Ego who had a PS , who are the other LSS pullers that didn't get a chance to hook? Sorry about that post I was totally wrong,!! Still what a lame excuse for the mess on Saturday, not to sure about the " momentary confusion " thing. Dick Morgan www.PULLOFF.com Independent Pulling News Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 08/22/2024 10:19AM by Dick Morgan. |

Bowling Green from the stands
|
I'm not sure anyone would want to watch them.
50%of the time there isn't one of them that will run long enough to make a good hook . The first session at BG was pretty bad . Every other tractor has issues . They sound like a sick lawnmower with a bad carburetor then sneeze 20 times and run about 100 feet . Its not really worth fighting over |

Not sure if you were drunk in the stands from BG or what but the class was tough Thursday because it was raining the whole day and during the class. The class should’ve been cancelled from the beginning. The track was slick the whole time and Brent Payne almost had a bad ride before they decided to cancel it. The light super class is VERY strong this year and has been putting on a great show everywhere they have been, except for Thursday at BG due to the track and weather conditions. |

As I look int my crystal ball, I foresee the light Super Class in PPL growing for next year. I also see that the politics seem to follow certain Wisconsin entries.... Please send a $10,000 check made to yours truly. |

After the LSS fiasco in Rockwell, I don't know many promoters that would want to book the class. |

Sure was.
A few spoiled rich brats arguing like some 3rd grade school girls. Glad some of them actually wanted to pull. Way to kill your own class. |

Gonna need some context on your "fiasco" definition there. There may have been something but not on a "end of the world" type fashion |

Hard for us to set the sled when second competitor after you, I flag at 350 and he coasts to 370.
And we had to heavy up the sled. I thought Bill had good passes all weekend. Including popping a burst panel at 330ish, and still qualifying for the pulloff past 350. I understand your frustration. I don't know what to do. Tires are a huge issue. And not a cheap fix, but that is one common denominator. I don't think you are that short on power. All that said, if I were a promoter, I wouldn't think of booking LSS. And that is my second favorite tractor class. And glad I'm no longer managing events, as they would be last class to hook till the end of time. PS being first, as if that matters. Overall classes, Semi and Unlimited modified are top. Not a class in pulling I don't like. All opinions shared are mine alone, and posted for entertainment purposes only. |

Session 2 BG Les K 251.42 DQ, Bill V 219.52, RJ 290.90. These are guys that have been making killer passes. Bill wrecked his tractor in Rokwell in the Mod class, The Dirtslinger almost wrecked his tractor...have you EVER seen that happen? Esdon of all people wrecked his tractor in Rockwell, most of the DSS class looked like amateurs, even the winner looked like a hobby horse going down the track. I don't expect you to fix it but I do expect you to see what is happening, some of the best pullers in the country are made to look like they don't know what they are doing. Sit down some evening and watch a few of these classes as a fan and see how they look. As an experienced puller I'm embarrassed to look like that in front of a BG crowd, even when I just had junky parts and a state level tractor I could go to BG and make a respectable pass, now I have good stuff and can't get out of my own way. Yes I can hear the criticism...figure it out. I'm getting to old to relearn pulling. S'no Farmer |

Rockwell DSS class issues had nothing to do with the sled.
2nd Light mod class at B.G. sled was a tad tight, BUT, with a couple poor hooks at front of the class, and what happened in the first Light mod session, we were hesitant to change the sled. By the time we get a decent pass, over half the class would have had to make another pass. Same issue I had in region 5(3),mod class. |

HP, if you really want light supers to look bad, go ahead and put them last class. There is a reason they are hardly ever last class. Seems like your knowledge for that class isn’t really there. |

Seems to be their choice.
The 3rd grade sandbaggers didn't want to pull on a fresh track Guaranteed the track will be worked up at the end of the show. Worked fine at B.G. |

Harold,
Have you noticed how many of the vehicles in the light classes have come within inches of wrecking the tractors? We're not talking about inexperienced pullers we are talking about pullers that have been at the top of their classes. I was leading the points last year until I couldn't make a decent pass at BG. Did I raise hell no but I did have a conversation with Big at BG this year and was told in no uncertain terms that it was my issue. That is all true, that's why my tractor stayed in the trailer for the second session of the Lt Mod at BG. My way to keep from damaging my tractor as well as a silent protest for the way things are going. If you watch the second session you will see three of the best tractors in the class ( Bill V, RJ and Les K ) make horrible hooks. Up until this year when was the last ime you have seem my tractor make a bad pass? Including last year at BG I've made 7 bad passes, is it my issue, of course it is but what is the common denominator. That is the important question " what is the common denominator " are ALL of these pullers missing the setups or driving in a way as to wreck tractors they've driven a hundred times successfully? My old ride now driven by Austin Berry made two horrific passes at BG, he has won multiple OSTPA points titles. I won more pulls than I can count with that tractor, Scott Tedder likley won more pulls with it than I did. Did this tractor suddenly lose it's ability to make a good pass, did Austin suddenly lose his mojo? I don't think so, there is a common denominator! I'm sure I will be accused of being a crybaby, I'm not making excuses just stating facts. I know my tires are outdated, I know I don't drive aggressively enough and I don't expect to win but I do expect to make a pass the is not embarrassing. I can't afford to wreck my tractor, that's why it stayed in the trailer at BG. I was as upset as I've ever been at a tractor pull my entire pulling career on Thursday evening to the point of contemplating not doing this any longer, the fun is slipping away! BTW I've had numerous competitors in the Lt Mod class tell me that they will not run the class unless something changes, this happens just as the class is getting good numbers and there are at least three new ones in the works. We need help from NTPA officials to put on a good show for the fans not accusations of being spoiled rich kids. I know some of the people involved in the dust up in Rockwell and most have worked very hard to get where they are in life. S'no Farmer |

Todd,I'm just curious about the bad passes...was your drawbar lowered for better control,or was it at 20 inches ? |

Full hitch, since going to 6200 we've not lowered our hitch as a matter of fact my wife's tractor didn't have all of the weight on the front at BG and still didn't carry the front a lot. Keep in mind we don't make the power of some of the tractors in class do and we are still running Firestones. Dick The short answer is yes. S'no Farmer |

I have seen more bad passes this year from veteran drivers than I ever have. The changes that were made when the 2 newest sleds were built are obviously having adverse reactions for the pullers. The changes to the sleds were to be able to stop the heavier classes easier but when the pan starts to bounce it makes it extremely difficult for the pullers to control their vehicle. Other than modifying the sled itself, what changes would some pullers suggest, longer chain length, additional weight to the class, more moveable weight? |
Re: \\\\\\\ BG LSS ring winner update ///////to; Brent

My question is what is different about those newer sleds? |

Pan length for starters, pan pivot point also. |

It's been pretty noticeable in videos how springy the pan is on the two new sleds. The extra length and moving the pivot point back is putting more stress on the pan than before and it's flexing more. All that is getting transferred to the pulling vehicle and certain classes are feeling it's effect hard. My only suggestion would be to take this into account and attempt to take off with smooth steady throttle and don't jab it. I realize it's not that simple but you get what I'm saying. Driving style is going to have to change some with those two sleds. As a puller I know it's aggravating to throw another variable into the mix but it is what it is. Those two sleds aren't going anywhere and probably not getting stiffer pans put under them either so we might as well figure out how to adapt. |

You just nailed it!
Same as the transition from the stump pulling sleds to drag race sleds. Same as you don't pull Iron Horse sled exactly the same as an Ironman, nor a Bungart. Would be cool to see a video of said pan flex. |
