I see no reason it won't take off, there is very little risk if any to the promoter in this model. 43 entry fees pay the purse for the class, 1 extra entry fee pays for the sled, we haven't even sold a sponsorship for the event, sold a ticket at the gate or a hot dog in the concession stand. Pullers are their own worst enemy, in this model only 4 people win anything, 1 will break even, and 38 are guaranteed to lose money before leaving the house. |

Awesome

This is awesome. I have been an advocate for this type of pulling for years. Repeat this 12 times a summer every weekend from June threw August with an off week or two. Crisscross the county at the best venues from Nebraska to New York and now you have a Tractor pulling model that would be on par with NHRA and Nascar. This is exactly what the sport needs. Hope this takes off. |

I’m glad that someone is trying something different but I don’t think that it is the best payout that it could be with only 3 people making money and a $2500 entry fee with half or over half going home with nothing. I see people comparing it to dirt track racing purses but that’s really not how they are set up.
I would like it better set up like this… Finals Night(Saturday) 1-30000 2-10000 3-5000 4-4000 5-3000 6-2800 7-2600 8-2400 9-2200 10-20=2000 Preliminary Nights(Thursday and Friday) 1-1000 2-300 3-200 Transfer positions 4-10 but no payout 500 non transfer for 11-25 Somewhere between $2000-$2200 for entry fee $25-$30 for general admission tickets for finals night $20-$25 for general admission for prelim night Have $100 from every entry fee, $5 from every general admission ticket sold and 25 percent of the 50/50(from each night) go towards extra money for the pullers to be split in the finals. 1-gets 15 percent 2-gets 14 percent 3-gets 13 percent 4-gets 12 percent 5-gets 11 percent The remaining 35 percent is split evenly between the other 15 finalists. I’d like to see 4 classes(PS, TWD, Mini, Light PS) done with this format based on 50 pullers split between 2 nights…and then have 2 new classes each night that run for a normal purse. HF and 2.6 Thursday, SF and FWD Friday and 3.0 and LLSS Saturday. |

I like chip’s idea much better. If I were to make the investment (fee, transport,cost/wear on equip) I would be extremely hesitant that I would have a very good chance of coming back about $3500 less than when I left the house, if no breakage. It’s a tall task to ask for pullers to support themselves, but not totally impossible. The trickle down idea is much more feasible and makes it a lot less risky. |

Risky?

A lot less risky then spending this kind of money and pulling for $1,500? Most times getting basically nothing? Opportunity cost and this would be a great opportunity for anyone that believes they are competitive in there class. I WILL REPEAT OPPORTUNITY COST, not everyone gets a participation ribbon at the top level. |

And this right here is why pulling got left in the dust by monster trucks, They realized they were a show, not Nascar, but a traveling circus putting on a show. Those guys collect a check when the pull into the pits. They don't pay entry fees and the highest level of their sport is a full time job that pays the bills. Until pullers all get together and figure this out pulling will never grow beyond the county fair type setups. |

There are many ways to do this and structure the payouts. I would like to see the top payout stay at $50,000 or higher. This is a big undertaking and needs a big carrot out there to get people interested. $2,500 entry fee for someone with a $200,000 minimum pulling vehicle and most likely $500,000 in vehicle, hauler, pit vehicle, ext. should be no problem. As for adding filler classes i wouldn't, thats just the type of mindset that pullers have that has gotten us to the point of way to many classes with a watered down product that most spectators dont understand. This needs to be the best of the best top 6 classes and everyone else will just need to watch. Just my opinion. |

So other than a big purse what is the difference for the fans in this scenario? Why should anyone pay $75 or thereabouts for three nights and have no SSD, Unlimited's, or mods of any kind for that matter? You can see this show 5 nights a week all summer in Ohio. The way the purse money is raised you don't need fans, and that's probably what you're going to get. From a fans point of view what difference does the purse make getting them in the seats? It's the quality of the show!! You'll get more fans with better classes! |

I agree. I go to the local high school football game but wont go to a NFL or College game. Why waste the money its basically the same thing. I also dont watch nascar when i can just look out the window and watch the traffic on the street. My one friend i have agrees with me on everything and life is good. |

In most cases I leave a NTPA pull losing money even if I win. When you take into account the membership fees, the event fees, fuel, food...etc. This model at least gives you a chance to come out a winner and basically pay for the rest of your season. Plus I think these types of events could raise awareness of the sport, gain more sponsorship, more viewership...etc. With that maybe the purses go up. Right now we hear about all these new sponsors but no chance to actually make more money. I think purses have stayed the same for a few years now. |

I hope it works and if anyone can pull it off the Simons can. I wish them luck and would travel out there to see this one.
For the nay sayers lets give it a chance. If you don't want to be out $2,500 don't apply to go (probably coming from someone willing to drop $20,000 on a turbo at the drop of a hat). I commented on a layout like this before and everyone says it won't work. There are several motorsports where they pay a bigger entry fee for a huge payout and only the winner takes anything home. I have heard Simons say it and I have heard the Gallot team say it. Anyone related to a race track sees it. I would think it would be hard to fill a full bracket knowing there's a chance your throwing your money away but they still fill them up every time. Why on earth would you run a huge event like this and bring in hot farms or light limited supers and run a normal layout when he's trying to build a big payout event? Guys can't even agree on rules in these classes. Hopefully they add a modified class or semi class but unfortunately I don't think there are 50 to be had. |

dont matter

You could bring any amount of classes you wanted right because the class is paying the purse ? |

If you have 50 in a class, where do you park up to 300 rigs assuming each rig only had one vehicle. That's a lot to park and adding more would become more difficult. I love this idea and hope it works. It needs to start somewhere and this is a good starting spot for it to grow into something more. Put LSS in for the variety for the 6th class and we are in! Sounds exciting! |
Re: Love This Idea!

With prize money like this there will be a lot of pressure on the rules and folks trying to gain a competitive advantage. Even the slightest bad optics are going to get a lot of attention. Anything less than flawless execution of the pull will be lead to finger pointing and bad blood. Just sayin. It's a lot of money and people do stupid stuff when there's that much involved. |
