How can a pull permoter keep putting on pulls that only 3 to 4 tractors or trucks show up in a class I have been to several ntpa pulls that only 3 to 4 show up in the LLSS class I think it’s time to try something else it’s a good class but not enough tractors in region 2 maybe they need to add more super or hot farm classes |

Maybe they should have left the rules alone for LLSS. A $7,000 investment for a lateral move in horsepower was a waste. Parts are difficult to get. When I couldn’t make a honest run at the points championship. I chose to leave mine in the shop for the season. 2024 was a pretty full schedule for a working class of pullers. A few tractors went through a lot of changes for 2024 and aren’t proven reliable yet. Geographically events draw more tractors. Ohio tends to draw 10+ tractors. Michigan does not. |

I think in Michigan and northern Ohio we need to do a way with the LLSS class and some thing that has more tractors or trucks |

Here in southern Ohio we have several tractors but between here and Kentucky we have enough pulls we don’t have to go north |

Do away with the llss class in ohio, that's the most asinine comment I've ever read on here in 20 plus years.the class ought to be pushed hard..most of the engine can be built using common parts from a catalog..that level of pulling would thrive if there wad 3-4 men in every county like "t.w.v " that had his passion for the sport, and his passion for craftsmanship.. |

Could it be a puller could run with other orgs for lower costs and similar purse?
NTPA tries to be all things to all people and as it relates to tractor classes, they no longer run super stocks on a regional level in R2. I can go to an IPL pull to see hot farms and limited/light pros. Those are fine classes, but maybe NTPA should have worked harder to save their super stock classes. |

Why does it seem like there are so many tractor classes with no real reason of progression? Not that all the other classes are perfect but they seem like they have a natural progression. Ex:
Street Diesel->Limited Pro->Pro->Super Stock SF->Limited Pro->Pro->SSD (somehow 5.0 pro was made and now there is discussion around limiting pro stock so, now it seems like one class can go) I could even make the case for Mini->Modified->Unlimited I think it's time we trim classes and get class numbers up in some instances. |

What was there to save??
|
What was there to save in the past 10-15 years?? There aren’t but 1-2 MAYBE 3 good running supers in the state of Ohio. 15 years ago they might have had 5 and the rest were…junk to put it bluntly. Of those 5 mentioned and 2-3 still left, they were diehard Ohio State guys and didn’t pull NTPA anyways after the fallout of whatever happened Then when Ohio state went under the PPL wing, those good running supers went to the champions tour. All but 1 of which have been cut up, scrapped or sold. The super stocks that show up to an OSTPA event now a days are aweful. A light pro can clean house on all of them with the exception of 1, maybe 2 if he has it together which doesn’t usually happen. |

I don’t mean do away with it all together but have more in southern Ohio where the tractors are at but up north where only 3 or 4 shows up it is ruining the class |

Couldn't a cummins be built from off shelf parts ?? |
Re: Classes

Why would we drive 4 hours to northern ohio when we have 70 hooks within 2 hours of us! My past experience the ntpa is over rated! |

It's funny though... the 5.9 Cummins has quickly become the Kohler K301 of the LLSS class. I was thinking the same thing... lots of Cummins parts and lots of hood choices that would work with a 5.9. I don't want the whole class to go with the 5.9 or 6.7 but it would probably one of the most cost effective ways to go for a new build. It takes a great deal of time and a fair amount of money to keep this website going. Donations for: photos, classified ads, forum discussion, etc... are appreciated. They have changed their terms of service and stated they would fine PayPal users for spreading "misinformation" and "hate, violence, racial or other forms of intolerance that is discriminatory". PayPal did not provide definitions for some of these vague terms. Woke corporate policies regarding "misinformation" could result in an automatic fine of $2,500 which would have been removed directly from the customer’s PayPal account. PayPal did backdown from some of their policies but quietly implemented portions of them in later terms of service. A financial institute has no right to monitor social media accounts or speech. This is unacceptable and I'll no longer do business with PayPal. |

Other than jd,what manufacture would a cummins not be legal in ?
They have the most product support of any tractor engine by many times over. R and d is being done daily by every aspect of every part of the engine.. And it's gonna be the go to engine for decades to come. I like the color builds, and will always support those, but in the real world ya would be foolish to not build a cummins |

I will be one the first to say NTPA is overrated they are not for the puller and if you watch how they are doing the management what’s going on |

It is sad we can't get 5-10 tractors to show up at every RN2 event in Michigan and Indiana.
Sad part is your lucky to get more than 5 in ANY class in Michigan at a Region 2 event. We've tried to help carry the torch for the class in Region 2 with our two tractors, but besides a few guys, we're not getting much help. We keep hearing about tractors coming back out and new ones being built but it's been 4-5 years and numbers keep dwindling. The class is dying here in Michigan and it's very frustrating to say the least. Unless we can rally and get guys committed to run Region 2, at least the Michigan/Indiana area, it will continue to go down hill. Maybe helpful to split Region 2 if they have 18 hooks so guys can make the 8-10 hooks within 4-5 hours instead of driving 8 hours for one hook. Guys from Southern or Eastern Ohio don't want to drive 6-8 hours for a 15 second run here in Michigan, then go home. Two day events are a much better deal. |

Myself I am going to quit going to Michigan and and up north and stay in the south it’s no fun running against 3 & 4 tractors when we can run with 10 to 15 |

What LLSS tractor do you run?
Unfortunately not everyone can live in a area where there is a large number of dedicated pullers. |

Your comment just made my decision as a promoter in Michigan having your class for the past 3 years very easy. I replaced it with a class that WANTS to be at our event. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/23/2024 04:51AM by JimS. |
