Mackville no longer is having a pull. At least for this year.

Oof, that hurts. That is a long time event. I'm guessing the Farley pull was the nail in the coffin? Miss the mid-late 90s days when Mackville was an NTPA Region III pull and, being the week before Tomah, would get quite a few out of town GN guys to show up so they could get another hook (or 2) in. Switching to Badger State/ PPL seemed to rejuvenate the event for a while, but it's starting to look more like PPL is the wrong horse.

Insurance from what I heard is the reason.

Had nothing to do with Farley, but I agree it probably would have hurt there numbers. The church was sued by the guy that was hit trying to cross the highway a couple years ago, I heard from Rodger the church had to pay but he didn't say how much. The Diocese put a stop to the pull over financial and insurance concerns. There are a few guys trying to figure out a way around it. But was told they aren't sure if they will get support from the parishioners to work the event. Too bad they just spent allot of money on making the track, pits, and facilities better the last few years.

Unfortunate accident that had nothing to do with the church but lawyers and people after money will ruin anything to make a buck. Thank you to St Ed's Parish for putting on such a great event for so many years. Hope they can work something out, they were the only decent pull in the area other other than the local farm and antique stuff.

Man, that's just infuriating. Wonder if it was more the other way around then? Simons got wind that Mackville was going away and snagged the date. Maybe I'm trying too hard to make a connection between the two, but it was just a very surprising move to put those two up against each other. Farley would have clobbered Mackville. Yes, on paper they are a fair distance apart, but Badger State tractors tend to come from the SW part of the state, and some big ones from the Dubuque/Farley IA area itself. A flashy, big money pull that is closer to home for many of the competitors suddenly being put up against a long-time charitable event on its traditional date seemed kind of... not nice.

You are trying way too hard to connect the two, Simon's had a conflict with a booking at the facility for this year, one they couldn't work around. So the dates got switched..........here is the what went on with the Farley dates (and future dates) per NTPA website:

The National Tractor Pullers Association has announced a mutual agreement on an exchange of dates between two of its early-season events in 2025, 2026, and 2027. The moves ensure the continued operation of both pulls under the NTPA sanctioning banner.

As a consequence of the arrangement, the Power Pull Nationals of Hutchinson, Minnesota will move forward one week to Friday and Saturday, June 6-7, 2025 from its previously contracted dates. Immediately afterward, the Farley Nationals of Farley, Iowa will drop back one week to Friday and Saturday, June 13-14, 2025.

Details concerning the divisions to appear at each event will be released at a later time.

These weekend slots will be locked in for the duration of both event contracts, which will run through 2027. Dates for future iterations of the Power Pull Nationals will be June 12-13, 2026 and June 11-12, 2027, while dates for upcoming editions of the Farley Nationals will be June 19-20, 2026 and June 18-19, 2027.
