Brandon Simon Mod interview February 15, 2025 02:06PM
What was supposedly illegal that they got protested for? Clearly Brandon called them out for their generous donation of $1000 protest money

Re: Brandon Simon Mod interview February 15, 2025 02:16PM
Drawbar length.

They have changed their terms of service and stated they would fine PayPal users for spreading "misinformation" and "hate, violence, racial or other forms of intolerance that is discriminatory". PayPal did not provide definitions for some of these vague terms. Woke corporate policies regarding "misinformation" could result in an automatic fine of $2,500 which would have been removed directly from the customer’s PayPal account. PayPal did backdown from some of their policies but quietly implemented portions of them in later terms of service. A financial institute has no right to monitor social media accounts or speech. This is unacceptable and I'll no longer do business with PayPal.

Re: Brandon Simon Mod interview February 15, 2025 03:55PM
I wonder who protested him??

Re: Brandon Simon Mod interview February 15, 2025 03:56PM
Who called them out?

Whale Yeah! February 15, 2025 03:58PM
Atleast someone put the $$ up instead of just running their mouth. Protest procedures are there for a reason & I honestly don’t think they get used near enough.

Re: Whale Yeah! February 15, 2025 04:26PM
Agree. Protests arent some evil thing.

The Ramblin Rose team protested and they checked the drawbar and then the Simons went on to win the finals. It's not usually the prettiest proceedure and emotions can run high, and I heard they did but at the end of the day it is (and should be) an important part of any motorsport.

Re: Whale Yeah! February 15, 2025 05:14PM
Was it proper to bring it up in the winners circle?
I think it lacked class.

Re: Whale Yeah! February 15, 2025 05:55PM
Not the first time they lacked a little class in an interview

It’s no different than all these hooligans running around slamming the Deere crowd in general because a red pro stock won. Or no different than when the announcer would make a dig at either color. Or truck brand. Or. I could keep going but, my point is made. There obviously needs to be rivalry. That gets fans to pick a side and get in on things. That’s why Pro mod racing is so hot right now. It has personality. They aren’t reading a corporate script card like so many do now a days. Tractor pulling needs that or it’ll be some diluted, tasteless bore to watch. Much like the NHRA or nascar races are anymore.

Side note, Brandon Simon is also a pretty quiet reserved guy. So for him to say something like that during an interview on a loud speaker, that’s heartfelt. He spoke it with his chest and was living in the moment. Like anyone should do when they achieve something that special in life.

Re: Whale Yeah! February 15, 2025 06:24PM
Yes, he wasn’t used to getting called out.
Diverted responsibility onto the builder.
Did Whitt know what he was looking at?
Not sure he was qualified for that grey area.
Rumor has it, Rj could not handle the situation and uninvited some pullers from his show.
That lacked class if true!

He wasn't putting responsibility on the builder, he was making a sarcastic joke.

He was looking at drawbar length. It's not rocket science. Mike Whitt and the rest of the tech officials are pretty bright guys and I'm positive that drawbar length is not a difficult grey area.

Re: Whale Yeah! February 16, 2025 02:42AM
More of a geometry question.

Re: Whale Yeah! February 15, 2025 11:07PM
I agree here. At the end of the day they are trying to put on a show and having a ‘villain’ makes for much better entertainment. I saw that in quotes because I’m a big fan of the Simon crew but having some controversy and all that is probably good for the sport.

As for Mike Whitt not knowing how to get the protest settled: I’d sure think that if someone knew enough to protest them they’d be around to make sure it got measured correctly. Probably easier there, on cement than it would’ve been in any outdoor venue.

Both families involved are top notch folks, know them both well. The real problem here is a couple snakes in the grass, running around behind the scenes whispering in certain folks ears revving up the whole deal. Its no surprise everyone knows who they are. They are becoming very irrelevant to Pulling even though their names are prolific in Pulling

Well tell us who the snakes are and who is becoming irrelevant. You can’t say something like that and leave us hanging!!

Naive fan here. But if they were protesting the drawbar, why is that a $1000 protest? I would think that this would be an easier, less time consuming protest.

Re: Brandon Simon Mod interview February 16, 2025 12:16AM
Listening to the post pull interviews, it was pretty clear who had made the protest…and good on them to put the money up to do it. I do think that the Simon crew comes comes off a bit smug and snarky. I’m not sure how else to describe it but I hear 99% of driver interviews be respectful and they all talk about the rest of the competition as a “big family of friends” - and they seem just the opposite, like out on their own island and don’t need to be respectful because they have the ability to NOT need that. Appearance of a villain? Probably and maybe justified. Interactions I’ve had with the group in the pits are right in line with the same attitude. They may have the mod wins, but they can’t seem to capture that PS win and it looks like they flat gave up on trying to get a TWD win, Just Sayin’.

They can't seem to capture that PS win ?? Did you happen to see who won the Pro Stock Saturday night finals in 2022?

Re: Brandon Simon Mod interview February 16, 2025 01:13AM
That statement didn’t just apply to the farm show.

I thought this thread was specific to the NFMS? ... no? But since you said that your statement didn't just apply to the farm show, I guess winning the Pro Pulling League Pro Stock points in both 2021 and 2022, and finishing 2nd in the NTPA Grand National Pro Stock points in 2023 doesn't validate your comment that "they can't seem to capture that PS win"

Re: Brandon Simon Mod interview February 16, 2025 04:07AM
Touché. I’ll concede that. Not that any of those vehicles weren’t already top running pieces when they were “purchased”. Maybe they’ll snag that elusive TWD championship if Richardson/McDonald decide to sell.

Re: Brandon Simon Mod interview February 16, 2025 03:20AM
A few questions need answered or addressed.
1. Every Modern machine chassis is built with a modern machine drawbar, all modern machine drawbars are the same. This tractor no longer has a modern drawbar in it. (The drawbar measured shorter than a modern drawbar)
2. Since when are competitors not allowed to witness the tech procedure? No witnesses were allowed.
3. Does anyone think either PPL (or NTPA for that matter) is going to piss them off when they're both clamoring to get the big money pull under their banner?

Hold my Drawbar February 16, 2025 02:38AM
I’m pretty sure a similar drawbar protest occurred a few years ago in the open SS class with mixed results. There’s no need to get pissed off over being protested, it’s the ultimate achievement award in any Motorsport. LoL.

Re: Hold my Drawbar February 16, 2025 02:56AM
My opinion for what it's worth which ain't much is this ----if protest procedures were followed and money put up and said vehicle is teched an deemed legal WHO has any reason to be mad or upset, that's what protesting accomplished, it removed all doubt, so neither party has any reason to be upset or mad or vengeful.

Re: Brandon Simon Mod interview February 16, 2025 03:58AM
RJ posted ths

Good morning,

I want to clear air about yesterday. Yes we were protested by a competitor. They claimed we had a short hitch in. We were measured by 3 highly respected tech officials from both sides of fence. We were legal no issues!! We have no issues with be protested my issue is that there was multiple friends/ competitors that came to us telling us it was going to happen because competitor was running around trying to get whole class to go together idk thought behind it. If you’re going to protest folks keep your mouth shut just do it! 2nd issue I have is people touching our equipment without having permission. You do not touch or start measuring someone else’s property. But if anyone has questions on this please feel free to reach out to me! What a great week we are very pleased. Also thank you our awesome crew and all great people who help us. Modern machine, Adam Koester MBR, CM pulling tires, SSI, Simon’s Trucking and many more!

Re: Brandon Simon Mod interview February 16, 2025 10:27AM
I alone protested the tractor. If you have any questions about what happened i will be glad to talk to you. My number is 8458577680. I protested it a 8am Saturday morning when things were quiet and while I hoped the officials would do it right away. But they waited almost 3/4 of the day to do it while the rumor mill took off in full force. I sat by myself the entire day waiting for them to do it. There is ALOT of untrue rumors out there. But I protested and I sat by myself right or wrong I went about the procedure how I was told to. If the Simon's are truly doing nothing wrong then a protest against the tractor should be taken as the biggest compliment as they did to Steve torrence a couple years back. Please if you don't know what your talking about don't spread rumors that you don't know the facts to. I will gladly answer any questions on my behalf of the situation. Dylan Owens

Re: Brandon Simon Mod interview February 16, 2025 01:31PM
So Dylan it was found legal correct? As stated above or is that not true?

Re: Brandon Simon Mod interview February 17, 2025 05:02AM
The drawbar was measured by multiple different tech officials. Also every mod puller was invited to come look at the measurement as well it was legal. The draw bar that is in the tractor and that was always in this tractor since we got it was from Long family is not a Modern draw bar. It is a hardened one from Engler. We are 100% Legal and we had no issue with the protest it was handled well. We found out Saturday late morning it was happening and that we could not be around while it happened. And were instructed to not touch the tractor besides to remove heaters and cover when they told us to. We were not worried as Brad with Modern told us that he looked at it Wednesday night when all of this started and he knew it was legal. So Saturday once all of afternoon session tractors were hitched and gone the tech officials not anyone from our team had Moved the tractor and went and measured it. It was found 100% legal and fine! All mod pullers present in Broadbent were asked to come look at measurement even the ones who said no i don't want to. They seen it and rumor was laid to rest so we thought. I don't know what all transpired after that to make people leave but it happened on the other side of Broadbent. I just hope that we can put this @#$%& all behind us and maybe Owens and other competitors can just come pull and win gracefully and lose gracefully. No need for this we work to hard to cheat. But if you do want to call us Cheaters that is fine do it in your camp to your people and put up the money we will do this all year long!
