WPI/NTPA Announces Galaxy Tour SN/GN Competitor Incentive Program March 06, 2025 09:39AM
Marion, Ohio—For 2025, competitors with NTPA Grand National-registered vehicles will have the opportunity to become part of the newly crafted GALAXY Tour Competitor Incentive Program.

Benefits of the 2025 GALAXY Tour include:

Winner’s Circle Bonus Money: The top five finishers among GALAXY participants in each NTPA SN/GN points class will receive GALAXY Tour prize checks from an additional fund derived from sponsorship and live streaming activities and separate from the event purse and GN year-end points fund. The initial estimate of the size of this 2025 fund is $250,000.

2025 GN Awards Banquet Tickets and Accommodations in Orlando, Florida: For each GALAXY Tour vehicle registered, GALAXY participants will receive room accommodations for two nights, two banquet meal tickets, two breakfast buffet tickets, and coverage of hotel parking fees for three days.

Automated Grand National Class Entry: Online registration for all GALAXY Tour vehicles will be completed on GALAXY participants’ behalf at the NTPA office. GALAXY participants will be obligated to notify the office of withdrawal from a GN class prior to the event start. For GALAXY participants who are not contracted Free-Entry program participants, entry fees will be collected via a participant-authorized credit card.

“We hope to see a near 100-percent attendance rate among all GN competitors at the 2025 GN Awards Banquet,” explained Gregg Randall, the NTPA’s Executive Director. “We expect this move to a destination venue to heighten the anticipation of our awards ceremony and raise the celebration of our champions and special award winners to a whole new level.”

Select GALAXY participants who earn 2025 Grand National championships will be offered the opportunity to display their title-winning vehicles inside or proximate to the banquet hall. For these invitees, the GALAXY Tour will include financial assistance for transporting competition vehicles to and from Orlando.

Additional benefits to GALAXY Tour participants include

A supply of printed hero cards for each GALAXY Tour vehicle for distribution to fans.

Two additional, non-family Crewperson licenses per GALAXY Tour vehicle (in addition to the two free Crewperson licenses with GN registration).

For non free-entry competitors, a refund of GN entry fees paid upon completion of perfect attendance at every qualifying GN point class. (Vehicles missing a SN/GN hook, regardless of reason, will forfeit this benefit for 2025.)

The GALAXY program will be open to any number of registered GN vehicles and their associated competitors. Importantly, this differs from the present-day GN Free Entry program and its predecessor GN Precommitment program, which restricted participation to a fixed number per division.

In addition to the required GN vehicle registration and at least one driver licensure, the GALAXY Tour will cost $1,500 for the first participating team vehicle and $1,250 for each additional vehicle within the same team.

Registration and fee payment for acceptance into the GALAXY Tour will be required by April 4, 2025. No applications or payments will be accepted after this deadline.

“We are really thrilled about this program and what it will mean for competitors, promoters, and fans,” said Randall. “Increases to our pullers’ compensation and rewards are integral parts of a five year plan that the WPI Executive Board of Directors outlined back in December. With the introduction of the GALAXY Tour, we are advancing toward these goals. This is a big step for the NTPA and its positive exposure in the sports industry.”

“By definition, what the GALAXY Tour represents is an array of NTPA Championship Pulling’s stars in each division,” said Ned Walliser, WPI President. “It is going to raise the bar in the sport of pulling, not only from a marketing standpoint but also from a monetary standpoint as well.

“The future is bright here at the NTPA,” Walliser continued. “We are proud of the Shield and proud of the outstanding men and women who take on pulling’s most grueling circuit each season at the motorsport’s highest level.

“The GALAXY Tour will take the Association a giant step forward in further developing the celebrities of the sport. We look forward to a great 2025 NTPA Championship Pulling Circuit with this bright constellation of competitors that fans will get to see each weekend on tour.”

That should quiet down some of the "did Full Pull give any money back to the pullers" people. Others will still find a way to complain.

I'm not sure I comprehend why there is a buy in to this program though.

I went to the NTPA website and counted up how many GN vehicles made every hook last year. The number was 133. If every one of those vehicles buys into this program the buy in money would produce $166,250. (Calculated using the price for a second vehicle per team, which means the number is actually higher). So pullers are funding the majority of this fund themselves. So what's the point exactly?

Thanks for sharing that! Explains things a little better. Seems like a good deal for the pullers based on those details. Seems like the idea is to help cover fuel and travel costs essentially. Which seems like a great deal.

If you read the post it sounds like cool deal.

Why a buy in? maybe because of all the added benefits of the program outside the 250k they plan on giving out? Not to mention they can plan/advertise/promote ahead of time knowing who has bought in and planning on being there, if there is a buy in there is more incentive to show up.

Also notice they said estimated payout? I am guessing it could change with added sponsorship and how many pullers decide to buy in?

Use a little common sense and give it a chance, and I agree for all the nay sayers with Full Pull bets here is the start. Hopefully the program goes well and grows in the future.
