Your engine is 302. 4"x4" bore & stroke.
early 4020 is 341. 4 1/4"x 4" bore & stroke. late 4020 is 362. 4 1/4"x 4 1/4" bore stroke. you would need the 362 crank & pistons for this job, and I'm not sure if it will all fit in the same. Not sure if late 4020 block is a little different. |

These are gas / LP. 4 main blocks. The 4010 & early 4020 are the wide deck blocks w/ bucket type lifters, the late 4020 has the mushroom type lifters. Not sure if the cranks will interchange between the early & late blocks or not. |

the cranks will fit in fact I ran a 7 main crank in gas block one year to save weight when we ran 4010 at 5000 lbs |

You must have sacrificed ci to do this, the deck height would have been a nice bit shorter. Did you compensate with a deck plate?? |

The deck is 1" shorter on the gasser but that doesn't affect CID directly. They just needed to take 1/4" out of the piston compression height of the 362 due to the stroke change. I'm betting you can come up with a combo using gas rods & automotive pistons, the stock gasser pistons have a bunch of compression height. |

Good point, hadn't thought of it that way. Finding an automotive piston with 1.25" piston may be tough. Guess you could always bush the rod hole down if you had to. |

Yep & that allows you to adjust the length a litte bit with an offset bushing. |
