3000 rpm class November 04, 2009 02:07PM
what do you guys think about a 3000 rpm, 600 C/I, 3x3 charger, open farm class? can run any pump, and any engine so long as engine made by maker of tractor. basically a performance based set of rules instead of all the stuff about pto, hydraulics etc...

Re: 3000 rpm class November 04, 2009 02:16PM
that sounds like a profarm class to me

Re: 3000 rpm class November 04, 2009 02:30PM
is the profarm 3000 rpm?

Re: 3000 rpm class November 04, 2009 02:48PM
what kind of safty equiement will you need to have. what state or states would you like to see this class in and at what weight ..

Re: 3000 rpm class November 04, 2009 03:08PM
rops with seat belt, wheelie bars, wide front end, air shut off. no blanket or sfi clutch needed. 9500, 10500, 11500 pound classes. looking to run this in south western pa

Re: 600? November 04, 2009 03:12PM
why 600 why not 640????????

Re: 600? November 04, 2009 03:15PM
no particular reason. we just figured 600 was more affordable and would cover most hot stock type tractors. we have several tractors in the club/area up to 600 but none over that we know of and we don't check cubes anyway. we were thinking of unlimited cubes in the 12,500 classes and above to make a spot for big cube 6030's

Re: 3000 rpm class November 04, 2009 03:11PM
540 cid and 3lm 466 charger makes a more affordable class with more tractor in the class

Re: 3000 rpm class November 04, 2009 03:20PM
if you are going to spend all the money to go huge cid most people will spend a small amount more and run open rpms. I think the hole point of 3000 rpms is economics so why go huge cid 505 would be ideal but if you have many massey that want to pull 540 would not exclude them.

Re: 3000 rpm class November 04, 2009 03:24PM
we discussed 505 cube area to get the cases in, but one of the big issues is who has already built a big cube motor since we do not check them yet. So, our thought was make it big enough that no one would really have a complaint because likely they were less than 600 anyhow. and like I said we have a couple 600's and a 570 etc already. Our thoughts are the 3000 is a nice safer rpm and sounds more like a stock tractor which is what the fair type pulls are interested in

Re: 3000 rpm class November 04, 2009 11:19PM
Why not check out interstate pullers 11000 pound profarm class. 540 cubes, a pump, limited turbo, open rpm. The class puts on one heck of a show and can be gotten into affordably. And they can clean up a big cube 6030 with ease. I would never go adjusting rules for renegade outlaws with their big cubes and turbos.

Re: 3000 rpm class November 04, 2009 11:39PM
those are a good set of rules, except no rpm limit requires all safety gear and sfi clutch. and it limits to the A pump. trying to keep costs down and rpm down. I am going to go check them out In March at Keystone. One big concern is how to police the class. how do they check cubes?

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 12:34AM
WHY NOT RUN 640 CUBE ,A PUMP LIMIT AND A BOX CHARGER ,SAY HX -50 OR HX-52 2.67 IN 3.1 OUT THAT WOULD LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD OUT

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 12:46AM
Level the playing field out for who?

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 01:02AM
we originally wanted a 466 cube , 3lm, 3000 rpm class but so many tractors are beyond that already. trying to keep class affordable and very open to let most folks pull within reason.

Re: 3000 rpm class November 06, 2009 02:36AM
In the ITTPA 11000 profarm class we have never checked cubes, never really felt we had a need to. the turbos get checked periodically. Safety equip is not really that expensive & a tractor runnin 3000rpm still ought to have an sfi clutch. Our class is a great class gaining more interest all the time.

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 03:41AM
yes

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 05:37AM
I guess we will see how things fall in place. I was just wondering if any other clubs have a class similar to 600 ci, 3000 rpm and 3x3 charger. Big point of contention seems to be the style pump allowed. I say what is good for one is good for all, regardless of how it came from factory. A tractor still looks pretty stock even if you run a different pump and hard for roosamaster guys to keep up with inline pumps.

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 06:07AM
Club in southeastern ohio runs 9500 and 10500 profarm.
Rules are 585 c.i., 3LM 466(2.5x2.7),water injection, 3000 rpm with monitor on sled, 20.8 tire size any cut, saftey rules are, roll bar or cage, kill switch, wheelie bars, fire extenguisher. Pretty good class just started last year with approx. 12 pulls and 8-10 pullers with more being built. Should think about making class simuliar so guys could pull both clubs if they choose. website is www.americanfarmpullers.com

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 06:12AM
I like those rules. Charger is a little small but Ok I guess if everyone is running it. These rules are very similar to what we are looking at.

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 06:16AM
Top Tractors are running road gear, charger is cheap ($500 or little more).

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 06:18AM
does the "3000 rpm when pulling" mean you can come out over 3000 and go over 3000 when you clutch but not during the pull?

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 06:27AM
No. Never over 3000 rpm from the time the hook drops in til you unhook from the sled. Usually allow 50 over to compensate for over wineding. Tractors are checked before pull and cant be over 3000 rpm free rev with pump throttle arm checked to make sure its against stop

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 06:33AM
sounds like you guys have been down the road already. I looked over the rest of the rules on your site. they look pretty good to me. I like the throttle stop screw rule. So, I see if you are 3000 rpm or under you do not need a dead man throttle?

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 06:36AM
I think all turbo tractors have to have dead man trottle. that rule your seeing i believe is for the NA tractors

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 06:39AM
do you guys have an out of the box charger you choose? The size is a little different than what I have seen.

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 06:43AM
Thats whats its based off of. Bigest 3LM 466 out of box is 2.5x2.7 but basically as long as it has 3LM housings and measures 2.5x2.7 your good to go

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 12:20PM
Don't want to hijack the thread, but I have a very ammeture question for you- Where is the turbo measured? I pull in farm stock, 3LM limit, but I don't know how to measure it. Thanks for helping a rookie.

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 12:38PM
the size of the hole at the air inlet and the size of the hole at the exhaust outlet

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 06:44AM
does your sled operator have the equipment to monitor rpm, or does your club provide it? which sled do you use?

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 06:51AM
Club provides monitor. sensors run bout $50. monitor is around $600 i think. Got every thing from Scheid Diesel. If yo u buy the monitor and10-12 sensors they give you a little bit of a deal. As far as sleds we use mighty mac, the ox, love, all american.

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 06:57AM
thanks for the info. Our rules may turn out pretty similar. My tractor would run nice in your class (4430).

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 09:16AM
those seem like really good rules! Bill R. i thought you had a limited pro international? wehn did you get the 4430?

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 09:57AM
I like the rules too. gives all us "hot farm stock" pullers a place to pull and a relatively even playing field. the 600 cubes, 3x3 charger are probably more than most guys will have or use but that keeps folks from complaining, and the 3000 rpm keeps them tamed down some to be safer. I've always had the 4430.... keep beating my head against those IH guys, someday I will get out there in front... Smiling

Re: 3000 rpm class November 05, 2009 02:12PM
another set of rules that you can look at are Badger states.

Re: 3000 rpm class November 06, 2009 12:54AM
what is their website?

Re: 3000 rpm class November 06, 2009 02:43AM
You could always use the GT42 turbo.. either the 2.8 or 3.0.. there's 4 or 5 different exhaust housings.. They should be able to kee it going with the smaller housings.. And keep the cost down from the custom 3x3's..
Our local group is 466, 4000rpms, GT42, 20.8 or 24.5's with all the safety @ 9000lbs.. slowly growing.. should make a good class next yr.. (I'd like to see 505 or 540... )

Would you let a JD 619 Decube??

Re: 3000 rpm class November 06, 2009 04:56AM
BSTP.ORG Just dont get set on another 466 class( JDs - IHs)

Re: 3000 rpm class November 06, 2009 04:59AM
sounds like you guys will have a nice class. I kave no problem with a 619 decubing. most all these things are on the honor system anyway....

Re: 3000 rpm class November 06, 2009 10:19AM
bstponline.org is the right address

Re: 3000 rpm class November 07, 2009 08:51PM
