While watching all these messages going back and forth; there's something I'm curious about; correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't NTPA pass a rule that you can run any type of engine under any type of sheet metal- is this so???

Re: pullerwars November 19, 2009 02:02PM
Any sheet metal any engine for component tractors only, within NTPA classes, which should be limited to super stock and pro-stock classes.

How about Crazy Canuck from Canada who is pulling with aCase IH tractor with a 903 motor, and seems to me I remember 2 or 3 years ago there was a Belarus tractor from Canada that came to pull in Malone with a DT 466 IIH motor in a Belarus, and nobody complained at the time, so why is it that Frenchie can't pull a 903 in the Red Horse? So why is Chief afraid to get his hands dirty and put his tractor on a diet for the 10,500 class; Frenchie wasn't afraid to put his in the 8,500!

Any time you need 6 digits for a tractor weight class, you need to hang it up, it is all antique crap then.

For starters this isn't the NTPA up here in the north country. Up here we run an altered stock class with a OEM block restriction. Correct me if I'm wrong but a 1066 IH never came with a 903 or a DT466 truck engine from the factory. As for the BELARUS from CANADA it probabily didn't even come close to wining which is why nobody cried about it. Some time when you've got nothing to do check out the difference in a 6030 rear vs. 1066 and you'll see why Cheifs 6030 weighs 2000 lbs. more than a 1066. If you change te rules to make the ROPS optional I'm sure Cheif would be glad to drop the weight. Facts----- IH 1066 factory weight- 11800lbs JD6030 factory weight- 15800lbs

Re: jim b 560 int November 20, 2009 10:51AM
i have never seen a INT. 560 come with a 466 truck block either, actullay he won the points for the 6500 alt stock in the atpa. I remember when mr frustration had a 706 int in the club with a 466 truck engine. He had to change the tractor, as the club gave him a hard time. So somtimes, things have to change. As chief 6030 said, stock block for that make and model tractor.

Re: jim b 560 int November 20, 2009 01:58PM
What are you talking about, the rulebook was changed a few years ago to say tractors need to be stock block for the tractor manufacturer, not the model, so what Jim is doing is fine, read the rule book, build one yourself. Oh by the way Jim went to two events with ATPA which tells me if he won the points its because the rest of you didn't want to pull that bad, someone would have pulled at all the events they would have won the 6500 points no problem. More tractors the marrier.
