The pic you think was Wysong is actually his old tractor, he sold it to his brother-inlaw, the guy with the beard, and renamed it "The Super Bee". It was shown in the back ground of the tractor that had strips of rubber vulcanized on Drag slicks. I'm thinking the tractor with the slicks and strips is a Pro-Trac tractor, they were running 4 tractors at one time. I used to run against a tractor with slicks and strips over in Indiana with CITPA, but it was green. I need to find all of my old pics. I've got some from the Ohio State Fair in the early 80's.

did the slicks with strips vulcanized to them ever show any improvment,or was this idea short lived.ive got some pics of art arfons with giant turf tires on his green monster turbine.i think he only ran them i hook and then scrapped the idea.

the coopshaw brothers are the only brothers that come to mind, from ohio.wasn't there to brothers that pulled "whoop ass express"

Re: old pics 1-3-10 January 04, 2010 10:10AM
They crazy thing about those tires is the chunks that would be ripped out of them. I think it was the first thought of not getting all the traction to the ground and trying to speed down the track on the top. I think that is the Whomp A$$ Express in the pic. If I remember right they went by the name of 4-Kings Pulling Team. They had 4 tractors each with a different name. They ran out of the Pro-Trac Stables I believe. The Whomp tractor still runs at Ft Recovery, seen it there the last 2 years as a matter of fact, I got pics from both years. Would you be thinking about the Brockman Brothers, who one year ran the mini's with Fly Swatters taped to the tractors? The reason behind this is for The Mellos tractors, Super Fly and Wild Fly. Brockmans ran Mini's befroe they switched to Two Wheel Drive.

Nothing like history,it's where it all began. My first pulling tractor was VOLLAND AND LUCAS's old tractor they use to run , THERE LITTLE W.D.45.That was alot of fun back in the day, sadly the WD45burnt in a barn fire(could'nt get it out, corn planter in front of it round baler behind it),lost everthing.I did have the pleasure of getting to know HAROLD VOLLAND over the years.Still to this day we talk a couple of times a year.

what ever happened to pete and repete

Re: old pics 1-3-10 January 16, 2010 03:42PM
A guy around MOORESVILLE or MARTINSVILLE bought them from Harold and ran one of them(don't remember whitch one) and kept the other one for parts.I almost bought them from him(wish i had). He never really put alot time into getting it to run very well.Someone in KANSAS or NEBRASKA bought them from him and that is where they were at(the guy was on here several months ago and was planning on running one of them this past summer).I've got some good pictures somewhere of Harold and me at the INDIANA STATE FAIR with PETE AND RE-PETE. If i can find them i'll post them. That was a long time ago, probably 20 yrs. ago.Man how things have changed! He came down to Lainesville,IN. a few years ago and watched me pull in the LITE LIMITED SUPER STOCK ,i got 4th that day out of 18 to 20 tractors,he was grinning from ear to ear.He said he thought we were making alot more power on one charger than they did with two.

WOW the Happy Hauler brings back memories that truck had a V12 Allison in it. And it used to run against the Mothers Nightmare Twd V12 Rolls Royce of Norm Hodgins here in Canada.

Re: old pics 1-3-10 January 03, 2010 02:48PM
Odd to see a Rolls engine in the usa. As is to see a radial engine here.

The twin engine mod was Carl Schneller's Beautiful Noise from Co.

Re: old pics 1-3-10 January 15, 2010 02:36PM

Re: thanks willy January 16, 2010 06:39AM
Yes they were. Schneller's had the engines crank to crank and I believe Austin's were stairstepped.
