John Deere frame rails January 30, 2010 03:33AM
Building a 4010 with 466 and original tin work. What frame rails are needed and does anyone have any to sell.

It depends on the block your using, the newer 466s have different bolt patterns, give us more info

Use the original frame rails, just trim out the old bolt pattern, find a plate and drill for your 466 bolt pattern, bolt this to the engine, slide the rail in place, mount it with the two rear bolts, then weld your new plate to the rail. Very easy, if you have a welder, plasma cutter and a drill press.

It is an older 466 block. My rails only have two holes in front and you need four and the holes are centered and dont line up. Was told rails off of a 4230 would work with no changes.

What is the bolt patter on the new style block ? Will it fit in a 4010 4020 ?
