S400 Turbo Upgrades February 09, 2010 06:27AM
I bought a new S400 3 X 3.5 turbo last season. It runs good, but not good enough to run with the billet wheel turbos of today's pulling world. Who, (if anyone) has a compressor cover and wheel combo that would run with the Columbus and Precision wheels for a Borg Warner turbo? Or should I just purchace a Holset and get it over with?

never done a dyno comparison between a 60 and s400 but the s400 we run on our 5.9 b series made 1250 hp with an air to air intercooler. it is rated for 119 lbs a minute and the map goes to over 4.8 pressure ratio. most likley the wheel and cover you have only does 98 lbs and a 4.2 pressure ratio if it is a true 3.0, the wheel we are using is larger than 3.0 and would need to be clipped down.

Their a guy selling a pr of them on ebay for $500. Look to be in very good shape.

Always checking out what holset/switzer/airesearch turbos are for sale on ebay. Can find motors that way too, just not as often. Heck their is a Detroit 40series on their now. Guy wants to much for it though.

Extreme Machine in N.Y. put his superfarm billet wheel in our turbo for us its a S400 the part # on our s is 171702 which i belive is the bigger one of the many s400 s. It looks real nice new for this year cant wait to give her a try!
