Re: fords at louisville February 16, 2010 06:03AM
nobody knows? I heard a ford cant get over 570. is that true?

Re: fords at louisville February 16, 2010 09:58AM
heard 611 but that would be mighty thin

Re: fords at louisville February 16, 2010 10:06AM
Which block did they start from? 401, 456, 474?

Re: fords at louisville February 20, 2010 11:00AM
OK to answer you ???

The blocks are 474 and they are over 620 cid I can tell you that for the 2 at L'ville I pull a Ford in NTPA SuperFarm and im 636
The 474 can swing a 6 inch crank
the largest bore is 4.75
They can compete in SF but since there are only 4 in the country that exsist as far as I know there is a lot of R&D that needs to be done that has all been done on the red and green ones for quite some time.

What model Ford/New Holland tractor was the 474 block put in or what model is it a replacement engine for? I only find it in ford trucks.

Thanks

I’m by no means a Ford expert, thankfully there are guys like Curt Forrester that can correct any wrong info I write.

The 474 was never put in tractors, but it can swing the same crank as the 401 and 456 so it’s considered a replacement by most organizations. It’s the same rule that allows the IH guys to put a 466 in a 9/1066 instead of the 414, or the Deere guys a 619 instead of a 531.

The 474 has a little taller deck height than the 401 or 456 so it allows for a little longer rod without a deckplate.

They came in tons of truck so they are a dime a dozen. With a little looking you can find an engine for $300 to $900. Most organizations allow you to swap a 474 for either the 401 or 456.

Thanks Jake;

What engine combo is Mark Hootman running in the Hooters Scooter. Is he running the Genesis block with the 4-5/8" bore? Is is the same combo that Ray Siuta has up for sale?

Just Curious
