Back in the 1970's-80's a Bill Williams from Walsh,Colorado pulled a 4010 JD in the 5000-7000 SS classes.Seems like he had one of the first 4010's in the 5000 SS class and it was called Bills Will?.He also pulled a 5010 JD in the 9000-12000 SS classes and even pulled the 12 Unlimited some. Both were good running tractors from an area with very few pullers.
I was just wondering if anyone remembered him.Where did the tractors go and would anyone have some pictures? Thanks. |

I forgot to mention that Bills 4010 puller is shown in the book Turbochargers by Hugh Maciness. It says the 3 charger setup was built by Doug Drussel from Garden City,Kansas. It may take awhile for the above link to load.Dickie Sullivans 1066 is also pictured. |

My Dad worked for Bill Williams for over 20 years and my Brother and I also started working for Bill when we were kids and after we graduated from high school.
Bill sold all his tractors and i'm really not sure who the buyers were. Pretty sure one was sold in Missouri someplace. The last I knew, Bill was living in Councel Grove, KS. with his son, Rick. |

A puller in Shelbyville,KY bought both. The 4010 was damaged in a hauling accident, and to my knowledge, not put back together. The 5010 was ran as "Rated GP", both have been in The Puller, the 4010 with 8 front wts in the 5500 super class (25 lb alum wts, painted green)quite a sight!!
The 5010 was listed in the classified section, when it was "Rated PG". Both were exceptionally lean and clean, the big block weighted around 7800, with triple charges and 30.5s. |

Think a 4010 called THE BAD in missouri is one of them, owned by Jeff Ummel and crew. Williams called the three The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. |

Thanks for all the replies. From what I can remember from back in the mid 1970's,the original Good-Bad-Ugly were a 4010 JD,3010 JD,and a modified tractor.Did Bill run a large farm? I seem to remember that he always chewed on a piece of straw at the pulls. |

I dont know if it has been mentioned on here but Bill Williams passed away Sept 18,2013 in Cottonwood Falls,KS..
[www.penwellgabelcouncilgrove.com] It would be neat if someone had pictures of Bills old pullers..Between 1977-79 he had (6) RN NTPA wins in the High Plains area..His 4010 JD was one of the early ones to pull the Light SS class.. |

I bought the 5010 from the guy in ky. I'm trying to research the history of the tractor. The guy told me it was originally built by Bill Williams of Colorado. I wish I had researched sooner, I just learned of Bill's passing on this post. |

I would make an attempt to contact Doug Drussel last time I ran into him was at Bandamere Speedway and he was living south of there in Sedalia Colo. Doug and Bill were pretty close back in the day and I am sure Doug would have some info about Bill's tractors for you. |

JD 3020

I manage the John Deere store in Walsh CO where Bill Williams was from and he was also close friends with my father and stepfather that both pulled with him. My father has passed away but my stepfather knows quite a bit of history on his tractors as Bill worked on his 4430 on alocohol along with Doug, let me know what you would like to know. I have several pics from back in the day when I get some time I will try to download on here. |

I don't know if this is true, but I have been told that I own the 4010 that was built by Bill Williams out of Walsh Colorado. All I know is that when I bought this tractor it had Drussel rims and a one piece rear fender assembly made by Drussel. The rear end is a lighten up 4010. Me and my brother bought the tractor from Allen and Paul Willson in Ohio who bought it from somebody in NY, who bought it from a guy in Michigan, who bought it from a guy in either Kanas or Okalahoma, and they bought it from Bill Walsh. Would love to know if this is true. |

I wish Doug Drussel was still involved in the pulling world he was way ahead of his time. I seen a lot of his work over the years he was 20 years ahead of his time. |
