Any one know if you can get the reverse drive gear out the top with out having to pull the pinion shaft out. It is a 1066 rear end. Sure would save a lot of time.

no, the shaft comes out the front. have to split it some at least.

I know that but does the pinion shaft have to come out first or is there enough room to get the gears turned and out the top.

If you are referring to the reverse/park gear on the pinion shaft then the rear end must be almost totally torn down. Final drives and diff must be removed as the pinion shaft must be slid back and removed from the rear of the housing.

Pretty sure u can get the short shaft out and gears out side cover, but is there a way to slide the gears forward off the pinion shaft or is there casting in the way?

pinion does not have to come out. just reverse shaft then you can get it from side. wasnt to clear on first message.

if you want to take out park gear you have to tear all apart. alxes ring and pinion, ext.. the reverse gear can come out of the side
