Ring seating March 08, 2010 03:13PM
Was wondering if anyone uses anything like total seals quick seat on the cylinder walls when assembling their motor to help seat the rings, usually in the past i have just used motor oil on the cyl walls, but wondering if there are other products to use to help seat the rings.
thanks

depends on the ring mfg.....some want it dry....if a high perf ring use mfg. specs....if not a perf ring call your local riverside or hypermax store

Lightly hand oil the liner, install piston. DO NOT use a synthetic oil to break in an engine, syn oil too slick. Make 2 passes then change to the syn oil, works for us.
