IH gearing? March 29, 2010 04:47AM
I have a ? about ih gearing what ratio do the super farm tractors run is it usually just direct or do they run over direct? heard differnet views from many people, i bought a 1066 hot farm tractor intending to build it up for super farm and it only has direct and one tooth under with the 706 ring and pinion didn't know if direct would be a tall enough gear or what guys normally run thanks in advance for any help.

PPL OR NTPA OR OUTLAW

I was going to try to run NTPA but not sure it would be competitive with just direct.

Lot of other things to consider. ring and pinion. constant mesh. RPM you intend to run. overall diameter of your tires. all of these things need to play a role in your gearing. Atlas tractor can help you.

we run 706 ring gear and direct is 21.1 final ratio get your 1 st 2nd 3rd tooth count and check out allied- precision.com or atlas just depends on engine setup and power.

How close will that be to what the Light prostocks will be running

If you have a good running 640 set up for NTPA rules, you should be in the 19's or so.....higher or lower depending on how much HP you have, and what kind of tracks you are pullin on.......

Well from what I looked up direct with a 12/49 is 23 to 1 and the 13/51 is 22 to 1. Anyone else have anything else on this. I don't have a problem switching ring & pinions just want to put in the one thats most common for this class.
