Whats the purpse of the lucas treatment? It will not save an engine from failure. a good 15w-40 will be fine and do just as much good!!!!!!!!!! |

the lucas helps Increase the life of the oil, reduces oil consumption as oil breaks down, helps to eliminate dry starts, raises oil pressure. we run it in all of our farm tractors, semi, and the puller. have yet to ever have issues. better safe than sorry, the additive is cheap compared to running straight 15w-40 which doesn't hold up very long in my experience, and takin a bearing out or chuckin a rod. just my opinion, not tryin to fluff any feathers. |

Why don't you just put 2 or 3 quarts of heavy weight oil in with your 40 wt, or what wt you run. Lucas is nothing more than heavy viscosity base stock with no additive package in it. What they advertise on the bottle is true, its 100 percent petroleum, but they just don't tell the rest of the story. Kind of expensive for just base stock. All oils start with the same basic base then add their package of detergents, wear additives and such. |

If it was "just base stock" it would be clear. refined oil with no additives is clear--it gets its color from the additives. |
