Allis 426 block casting number/best block
|
What is the best casting number block for the Allis 426? Whanting to build a 540ci light limited pro. Will it have any problems at that ci with a 4.1 charger? |

540 is doable. Get the later series of the 426. 670 I believe was the number. |

Later blocks are better , run bolts all the way thru and any year block will hold up; the crank I believe is the biggest deal, I think a West German made crank is the better one ; if you can find a combine motor , they are made for higher rpm and I think bigger wrist pins [ a 301 is , i,d say a 426 is too ] someone will straighten me out if I,m wrong !! |

go to www.thefewtheproudtheorange.com and ask on that discussion board.
I think the later cranks have larger counter weights. |

get a motor out of a N6 gleaner combine then you will have a good block the west german counter balanced crank (it says GERMAN on it) and the big pin rods. there is a recapie to make them 531 ci. and you still use the stock crank and rods but get rods hardened. 670 is what it will be called. |
