jd 466 pistons in ih 466 June 05, 2010 11:48AM
Just wondering if there is a JD 466 piston that will go on a IH 466 rod to make 500 or so cubes? i believe it makes 502 if i figured right.

524.8 CID with the 466 piston - compression height appears to be about .63" shorter on the Deere according to my book

539 CID with a 4-5/8" piston - I believe Case has one that was popular back in the day. Looks to me like there are 2 Case pistons - one has the same 1.625 pin diameter but is about 1/2" short, other has similar compression height but has 1.8" pin.

I'm sure someone on here knows how to make one of these work.

Would you mind sharing which motor the piston with the right size pin came out of. I believe you can use a 407 rod by making the pin size fit the rod and it would be right right length to make 540 with that 4 5/8" bore.

2290 or 2294 Case piston is the one you want. It has the 1.625" wrist pin

I wonder if the 400 series block and the case liners can be machined to work or would it be cheaper to just buy a drop in kit?
