how big of a turbo will a 466 diesel spin? July 08, 2010 12:21PM
I want to run 1 big turbo in a 6000lb superstock class on a 466 Deere diesel, instead of using multiple turbos. I know it wont run as hard but I want the biggest fun per dollar I can get. whats the most boost 1 turbo could make? What size and brand would you recommend? Any ideas, or opinions?

Honestly, if you're looking at turbo cost I think multiples could be cheaper than 1 biggie. You could probaly spin more turbo with less work to the engine. A S4 / T18A combo could probably be picked up pretty easily. I don't know what has to be done to balance the 2 into 1 but a pair of ~3" feeding into another of the same might not be that expensive either.

If you're set on the single & are looking for junkyard truck units I'd go for something in the Garrett TV8000 series off a Mack. If you have a little more cash availible one of the smaller HX80/82/83 may be the way to go.

probably a 4.1 to a 4.4 if it has a good head and good pump.
