On a 466 John Deere with an A pump 3000 rpm stock 3LM turbo, where should the timing be set to start with what range? Thanks. |

28 degrees should be ok, however if you have no degree marks on your dampner or pump try this: take the plug out of your timing cover, the one below the oil fill cap, roll the engine around and line up both the timing marks, when they are both together that is TDC. loosen the four bolts on the pump gear, reach in the front with a 7/8 socket and turn the pump shaft clockwise as far as it will go, then tighten the four bolts. this will give you a good bit of advance. as you will see the four bolts go through slotted holes giving you some degree of advance on your timing if it still is not where you want to be you can stretch the holes, but you can really start building heat doing that. this is just a barnyard remedy that i have done for a few farmstockers. if you want to know exactly where you are you need to add some degree marks on your dampner |
