Embeco 885 Grout filling a head
|
I heard Embeco has a product that is good for filling Cast Iron Heads.
Has anyone used it or knows if the 885 brand is the one to use or is there something better. Thanks |

Yep, 885 is good stuff and cheaper than Hard Blok. It's the only filler I use for cast heads. It even works in the exhaust port, and won't erode. I have a Super Farm head ported through the exhaust ports, running 1900+F EGT's early in its life before fuel and water tuned in, and after 60+ hooks it looks as good as it left the shop.
Embecco 885 has the same thermal expansion coefficient as grey cast iron mainly because of the high content of iron powder. Mix it with warm water to a thick slurry, but runny enough to pour through a 1" funnel hole. Put the head under Halogen lights overnight before you pour. I would avoid filling a head halfway and still run water. It will eventually leak no matter what you do, been there done that. Fill it 100%. Call if you have questions. 715-210-6859 Brian Hitt |

The product has changed name to MASTERFLOW® 885 (at least here in Europe) and it is produced by BASF |
