ww2 modified engines August 01, 2010 04:48AM
I'm not a big follower of the mods, but those old allisons are really cool. My question is, other than the allison and the rolls royce were any other ww2 era fighter engines ever put in a mod? maybe the bmw, or the mitsubishi from the japanese zero? Also, when people first started using these engines, were they relatively inexpensive? I would imagine after they were replaced by jets there had to be quite a few around. I'm guessing these engines are pretty valuable now. just curious.
Thanks, Ryan

Darrin Rursch from IL runs a Packard that would be from that time frame.
