hello all, I have a 4430 syncro range tractor, It runs pretty good, but i need more ground speed, I runs 7th gear in 11500, and 13500 pound no pace classes i spin out with hardly any loss of power, i have tryed 8th but the jump is way too much, and theres no way i can get it outta the hole like that, the Internationals i run against do not out power me at all they just seem to have more ground speed, what should i do to raise my speed oh yea i also have 20.8-38 tires on. any and all help is greatly appreiacted thanks................... |

Have you tried to run 42 inch rubber on that tractor. I ran 20.8 42's all last year, I am not sure of the true ratio, but it certinly made a difference for my tractor. After that you can go to 4010 finals or buy half gears for your transmision |

Your other option would be to put a quad range bell housing and two speed in it. Then you would be much better equipped to match the IH's and their TA's. |

I agree but getting ahold of a quad out of a 4440 4450 or 4455 is no easy or reasonable priced either, any idea how much faster it will get if i put 4010 finals on it? |
Re: 4430 ground speed need more

Your current final is 35.6 in 7th gear with 4430 final drives. With 4010 final drives it would be 30.9 so about 15%. 4010 finals are much smaller and may not like pulling at those heavy weights for very long. I have no personal experience myself though, perhaps those that have pulled with 4010 finals in heavy weight classes can weigh in if they have had any problems with them. |

KTA do you happen to know the ratio of 8th gear on my synro tractor I am looking to aim right between 7th and 8th thanks |

8th gear is a big step. Your final in 8th would be 21.99. |

Can you tell me how to put a 7 1/2 in a 4010??? What will (gear) I lose??? Thanks |
Re: 4430 ground speed need more

4010 stock 7th 36.84 final
4010 stock 8th 22.58 final 4010 8th with 4020 final drives 26.02 final Its a little more than a 7 1/2 gear but it is probably your only option short of getting custom gears made or putting in a diffrent aftermarket transmission. |

The part# is the same for a quad and a syncro for the clutch housing so you should not need to purchase a clutch housing. |
