? for Sascha (or anyone else from Europe) August 05, 2010 01:36PM
I'm curious approximately how many of the following types of vehicles there are on the European continent, (including Italy). If anybody from Europe can give a rough guesstimate of how many of these tractors/trucks are currently running in Europe, that would be great.
Thanks!!

Two- wheel drives

Minis (not limited or naturally aspirated minis. I mean minis like Lambada that run on big block blown engines, turbines, etc).

Super Stocks (both diesel and alcohol)

Pro Stocks

Modifieds (4.5 ton- meaning tractors that run #s of engines in excess of the 3.5 limits, or are too heavy for it)
2.5 ton
>>are there any Euro mods that run exclusively the 3.5 ton class?

Hi!
I don't have the actual numbers, but those from the end of last season. The new ones should be out any day now.

2,5t (5500lbs) mod 44
3,5t mod (7700lbs) 82
4,5t mod (9900lbs) 58
3,5t SS (7700lbs) 29
3,5t PS (7700lbs) 82
Mini Rod 43
TWD 17

These are "competitors per class" in the ETPC, not number of tractors.
Not mentioned is anything that would be classified as "Super Farm" or "lim Pro" in the US, as they are well part of the association but not part of the European Championships (stand alone event) or the Euro Cup (international points series). There is probably over 100 of those and they run the "Euro Challenge", which is still in the process of getting build.

There is several modified tractors running 2.5t (like e.g. Roude Leiw with the radial) or 3.5t (like Bandit or Eager Beaver) only. Most mods run in two classes though.

I guess you were also interested in the "big" modifieds we have here (anything that exceeds the limit of the US 7 mod, so methanol twin Griffons, 4 Hemi with 14-71s, anything 5 blown V8, triple Allisons, turbines over 6000 hp) - basically everything that would not be considered a real surprise ending up in the top 3 of an European heavy mod competition.

I will go from north to south:
Sweden:

Cougar (4 x wedge V8 with 8-71s and one Fontana with 14-71 on top)

Denmark:

Fox (5 x wedge V8 with 8-71s)

Germany:

Green Fighter (3 x Allison)

Iwan (3 x 2200 hp turbine)

Kiepenkerl (4 x 1500 hp turbine)

Erlkönig (4x 1500 hp turbine)

Dragon Fire (1 x 42 cyl radial) - but this one runs 11800 lbs class only

Netherlands:

It Kypmantsje (2 x alky Griffon)

Green Spirit (2 x alky Griffon)

Seaside Affair (5 x Ford SVO V8)

Simply Irresistible (5 x Spread Port V8s)

Lambada - (4 x Hemi V8 with 14-71) currently away ...

Whispering Giant (4 x 1950 hp turbine)

Rising Star (4 x 1950 hp turbine)

Popeye (3 x Allison)

England:

Desperate Dan ( 4 x Chevy V8 with 8-71 and one with 14-71)

Belgium:

Baby Duck (4 x 1500 hp turbine)

France:

Ouragan 3 (2 x alky Griffon)

L'aspirateur (3 x 2200 hp turbine) - has 4 mounted but only 3 running

Italy:

Tornado (3 x Allison)

Starlight Express (3 x Allison)

Fuornohemi (4 x Hemi 14-71) - that's Tedders Mr. Twister with 14-71 blowers - has only made two events down in italy yet - bit far away for me to take a picture...

Oh - and some good news for the oldimers. The austrian guy who bought Russ Janssen's "Black Hawk Special" in the late 80s is planning on bringing it back out for next season.
