I was just wondering if a 5.9 cummins will fit into a 560 IH? If so what is the best 5.9 cummins made for pulling. I know there are certain S/N better than others . Thanks for any help |

I can't imagine why you would want to when there are 560s running with 466 blocks unless you wanted to run llss then it might still a issue either with legal motors. Either way good luck |

call up leaman tractor parts717 464 2874 they will sell you a adaptor and flywheel. As far as engines I run a common rail 5.9 in a 706 just with a smarty programmer and a ppe lift pump it will pull high second in 8500 pound class and in the 11,000 i have to TA it but never ran out of snuff on the low side of the TA. If you plan on pulling it and want the easiest of everything buy a 94-98 dodge pickup engine with the p pump on it already. If you want to farm a 90-93 engine with the VE pump would be fine to but its limited to how far it can go performance wise, or ask a member on here that goes by KTA supposedly he can get them to run good. THe only problem i can see with the p pump it might hit sheet metal but i really dont know for sure. |

just use the international 360 out of 766, or 886 it has longer stroke but smaller bore than the 5.9 and you can use international parts to put it in. Use a 966,766 back plate and flywheel. |

Thats why they still make it and there are tons of aftermaket parts like the 5.9 Cummins. Tons of people are swapping DT360's in to pickup trucks and other applications! WRONG!! Cummins will alway be way better in every way! |
Re: dt360

STILL WRONG
|
Dont get the DT360 and the D360 confused the DT is just about the same bore and stroke as the cummins only stronger with a better head. I have been around a few of them that can turn well over 6000 with no girdle and stock rods with 140 psi. Seems like a good engine to me. I suppose that doesnt mean anything cuz they were not used in pickups. Maybe a little too heavy? definitely stronger though. Get yourself some wrenches and do your homework before you tell people what to build! |

I've never figured out that whole "No Electronic Injection" rule. Why? Common rails have been out in tractors now for years, so shouldn't you be able to use one since it comes that way from the factory? |
5.9 OR DT360
|
NOT SO FAST
|
It depends what class you use it in. |

the 5.9 uses a stock bottom end and rods and be reliable @ 5500 rpm and making 1500 h.p.good little engine |
Re: dt360

We have a 5800lb profield class with ih 560's with dt360 and a White, Allis, and Case IH tractors with the 5.9 cummins. The 5.9 seems to run really good in this class, but the dt360 can keep up. I am a red man so I would say if your using a 560 why not the 360 and leave the cummins alone. Either way I think you will have a nice motor, just depends on how big your wallet is lol. |

Put in a cummins. A 12v can make some high hp and you will have the rpms unlike a 5.9 24v or CR. There are tunners out there but cant beat a p pump. There is a white tractor in MMTTPA and it pretty untouchable. Look at the results on their website. |

for you guys worked on both engines because if you have there isnt any debate what is better! the DT is much more heavy duty and bullet proof compared to a cummapart! and fo the after market parts thing that dont have any bearing cus hyper has anything you need for the 360. the reason no one puts a 360 in pickups is because most wont associations let you run them because it didnt come in a pickup. and your 1500hp with a stock bottom end is bs, thats what the superstock trucks are making and they are all billet |

thanks for the info i would rather run the dt 360 but everybody talks that 5.9 up. I think i will go with the 360 and see what happens. thanks |

Yes

Jeff does have a good running 5.9 Cummins. He even pulls MSTPA 6200 Pro once in awhile and has won this class when hes actually just a 5700 Pro Field. The MSTPA Branding Iron 560 with a DT-360 runs good too. |

a 5.9 cummins engine is a living block just like asmall block deere, they are still being casted this very minute, and yes common rail, and 24 valve technology! do what you want but their is alot of perks to the platform! |

Are these two tractors 359 and 360 CI or they bigger? No one wants to spend 1000.00 to check them + the mstpa board probbly would not do any thing about it. |

They both are very good performing tractors. Also MSTPA has a rule in the 5700 Profield class that you can't run any computerized injection systems. |
