to build a 3000rpm deere August 25, 2010 04:53AM
just wondering what all people have done to thiers to make it competitive, as far as the fuel systems cams what pistons etc. we are limited to running a 3lm 466 charger where i'm at

Re: to build a 3000rpm deere August 25, 2010 05:29AM
what color and pump limit A pump or a P pump Red is cheaper to build but green is something you can be proud of and resell easier?

Re: to build a 3000rpm deere August 25, 2010 05:44AM
it's green 4440 sheet metal, 466 cubic inches, 550cc A pump and 50 seris pistons, quad range trans 20.8 38.

Re: to build a 3000rpm deere August 25, 2010 05:47AM
would i be able to compete just putting a bigger/different cam and setting the cam timing, water is "not alowed" but would it help if it "was allowed"

Re: to build a 3000rpm deere August 25, 2010 06:48AM
its hard to say if water injection would help I would drop a 55series head on and get on the list to have a saint joe pump built for your exact setup they cost a bunch but they built one good 3000rpm pump. lazer cut injectors also help with a cleaner burn. The next issue will be ground speed you need to be running faster than stock c-4, a gear between d-3 would help but if you can hack d-4 in your weight class you could be real tough depending on how much weigth you lost 8500, 9500 needs a tall gear to run with red tractors

forgot to mention that i have a 55 seris head and intake on it now. i pull in the 10700 and 11700-1300 stock classes now, in the 10700 i pull c3&4 and in the 11700 d1&2 and b3&4 in the 13000 class. st joe built my pump and nozzels that i have now

if you have a 55 series head then you should have 55 series pistons instead of 50 series pistons right?

Re: to build a 3000rpm deere August 25, 2010 01:12PM
Yes you do!!!

Re: to build a 3000rpm deere August 25, 2010 05:12PM
Where are you located at? I talked to a guy just today from an area that has some pulling but not much rules, so he can kind of do what he wants. The other thing is, are there many tough guys running around there, sounds like you have some good equipment already, maybe you don't need anything else, just turn up your rpms and kick their butts....

Re: to build a 3000rpm deere August 25, 2010 11:47PM
always feels better to do the kicking when you know you are following the rules if if they aren't!!! I would agree the pisions should be 55 also helps with the torque

Re: to build a 3000rpm deere August 26, 2010 01:38AM
the head was milled down to work with 50 or 40 seris pistons, so no i dont have the 55seris, but if it hadn't been milled then yes it wouldn't work right

You never mentioned where you run, can you run cut tires or not?

Re: to build a 3000rpm deere August 27, 2010 02:17AM
i run mostly in nebraska and venture into iowa sometimes, i can not run cut tires i run 20.8 38's right now they are firestone 23 degree radials. the biggest factor i think that will hurt me is having to go to a 3lm 466 turbo. i currently run that turbo of deere's that comes on the chopper it's a part number se500269, which maybe it isn't any better then a 3lm i guess i really dont know

Re: to build a 3000rpm deere August 27, 2010 05:48AM
I didn't see that turbo lists for the chopper, but it doesn't matter.. I will depend on what the rules are for the 3lm 466.. Do you have to run it as a box charger, with no modifications?? I think the turbo you listed has a .100Ar housing on it.. and is probably in the 2.3-2.5 range.. I don't know the exact specs on the stock 3lm.. I was looking at CDS's site and they list a 3lm-466 with a 2.55 wheel..?? If so you might be head with the 3lm?? (I like the base of the s300.. but I'm no turbo guy.. a s400 would be even better.. haha.)
Good Luck,
Bryan

a stock 3LM inlet is 2.31.

Re: to build a 3000rpm deere August 27, 2010 08:04AM
Thanks.. I thought that might be a modified 3lm on CDS's site..
