13mm model 100 rotary problem

what would cause the pump to seem like it defuels under a load? the tractor seems strong until the sled pan sets to the ground and them the smoke disappears and it chokes. the pump timing is at 28 degrees with .093 lines and 4-20 injectors. this is all bolted to a 466 with a 2.3 turbo at 3000rpm and 9000lbs. we are supplying the injection pump with 60 psi. anyone have any idea where we are going wrong and why at no time is there any fire out the pipe? |

Did you run this pump before or did you just put it on ? |

we ran it last night for the third time. the first time out it was set at 30 degrees backing it down to 28 seemed to help it but still wont torque when the load hits it. |

Question for you. Did you just buy this pump or did a builder put it together for you? Try setting the timing back to 18 degrees. Its possible the intravance isnt locked out which would advance 14 degrees on top of the 28 degrees which equals 42 degrees. Thats to far advanced for that much fuel at that rpm. I had that problem several years. Try it once and see, its actin just like mine did. |

we bought it off an individual. he told of the guy that built the pump but didnt give his name. i will try setting it back just as u say to i appreciate the info. ive heard of the intradvance lock how is that done? is that something i can do or something a pump shop has to do? and also could i have a governor problem they have been ground on but dont know the weight of them? |

Had that problem on a 15mm when hyper first introduced them. I think he said it was the governor linkage. Ran awesome when I got it back! |

we have ground on the governor rod and linkage to allow it to accuate more but didnt really notice any change. we also added more shims to the governor spring but still no difference. |

could it be the governor weights are still too heavy? |

ben there
|
do you have a stiff spring in or a stock one, use the stock one for 3000, stiff one for rpms. |

Have you changed anything else? I put a deep intake on and it acted like yours with a 3lm. Had to take it off. |

heres our exact setup; dt466, 2.3 hx40 turbo 17cm housing, 13mm rotary at 28 degrees, .093 lines, 4-20 injectors i tested right at 4000psi, 3000 rpm cam by berry cam |

Is that berry cam new or has it been run befor. I heard berry was having some health issues and have heard some people have gotton some messed up cams. IE ground opposite rotation, intake and exhust lobes mixed up ect... Not trying to start anything but that is the word around the campfire. |

I don't mean to fan the flames myself, but the local dirt track racers have been saying that for 20 years with Berry Cams. Seems like 2 of 5 work real good, the other 3 are junk. I had good luck with them so I can't personally say anything bad .. Still sounds like a pump issue, so wouldn't this be all related to the droop screw adjustment, if it's still in the pump itself? |

who did your injectors, there is a possibility that your injector pressure is too high, i had the same problem last year and it did the same thing, you have lots of power out of the hole but at 275 the power goes out like a snap of your fingers, just trying to help from experience, also your exhaust housing on your charger might be a little big, try a different charger or maybe some exhaust wrap around the manifold and up over the charger.

I agree, 4000 psi is too high for any rotary pump! |
