timing a 15mm rotary December 31, 2010 11:30AM
I recently acquired a 15mm rotary pump to try for a few runs. I know i ve heard good and bad things and yes some people just have to find out for themselves that being me. Just wanted to save a little time with the timing of it. Open to all suggestions. Thanks.

I do know the advanced was locked out on my old pump. But i believe this one isnt. I will have to double check.

Dose the timing needle have a bend in it? Is this a big nut Hyper? There a meny questions you need to have answered before. I ran a 15 mil big nut for years untill they lifted the stock pump rule in our area..

yes it is to both questions.

more than likely it has the 9deg advance in it. when I had a 3x3 I was around the 28deg mark on the flywheel but I do remember being at 32 towards the end. I guess it depends on your rpms, cubes, turbo and all the little things. I did notice it did not like limited rpms well at least the one I had. so there is a start for you good luck

What does the bent pointer usually mean? Its bent down then corrected to point straight again on a 13mm.

We ran ours all last year on 18 degrees we never advanced the timing anymore. it ran good enough at stock timing that we left it that way. I would say start at stock and maybe bump it a degree or two at a time.

If you have ben pulling awhile then u must know how to spill time a pump. I would do it that way !!!! If you have a hyper small nut 15mm pump i would not time it over 20 mine worked the best at 19.5 degrees started fine we ran a 3000 rpm class with a 600 ci motor hope this helps

i would say around 26 to 28
